Kingston recently announced the DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0 USB Flash drive. This drive is available in 512GB and 1TB capacities and is fast, with speeds of up to 240MB/s read and 160MB/s write. We managed to get our hands on the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX Predator 512GB drive and put it to the test to see how it performs!

Judging by sales numbers around the globe it seems that NAS servers have finally managed to replace full computer systems in some areas due to their size, low power consumption and easy to use menus and functions. This of course applies mostly to large enterprise environments where several such devices get used and thus the benefits from the mentioned features are even greater. Small business and home users also turn towards NAS servers to cover their needs (mostly for office use) but to my knowledge at least not many people actually choose to use NAS servers purely for their media sharing capabilities and the ones that do never really place them inside their bedrooms to avoid getting disturbed by their noise levels (even just 20dBA is quite audible at night). QNAP is the first NAS manufacturer to address that issue by releasing the first dual bay model of the SilentNAS series called the HS-210.

How do the many solid state drives in the market stack up? We ran some

I don't know how many times I've needed to back up my hard drive for a reinstall of my OS and been left wanting because I didn't have any place to put all my pictures and data. I've had to rewrite several articles and reviews do to exactly such a scenario. It's a sad fact, but if you store your most valuable data on your main HDD, there's a good chance you'll lose it. My only problem with external HDD space is that even with USB 2.0, it's still slow as Hell when it comes to large file transfers. Ever had to move 50 Gig of video files over a USB connection? It's like dial-up, man. But Verbatim has stepped up to the plate and served a little more than a homerun. Try four of them.

Now that we've had some time with the Vertex 3 Pro SSD carrying the new SandForce SF-2000 series controller, we can say that we're impressed with the performance. That comes with a bit of a caveat for those not on the Sandy Bridge P67 platform. Curious? Those interested in buying any next-gen SandForce drive might want to read what we found so you don't buy something you may regret.

When we recently reviewed the Corsair Neutron drive with the new Link_A_Media Devices LM87800 controller, we were duly impressed with the initial offering for this yet untested controller but we didn't get the chance to see it really shine until now. The Neutron GTX is a souped-up version which pushes the SATA 6Gbps interface to the limits. We take a look at performance and, now that both have been on the open market for a bit, also look to see how they are holding up on consumer machines.

The Icy Dock MB996SP-6SB 6 in 1 "ToughArmor" backplane cage offers solid aluminum construction that not only protects the hard drives but provides passive cooling. The MB996SP-6SB fits six 2.5” SSDs or hard drives into the space of a 5.25” bay in the hot swap capable drive bays. Active cooling is provided by a 40mm fan mounted to the back, the fan speed can be set to off, high, or low speed. Indicator lights are also present on the hard drive bays to show HDD power and activity. Power is provided by two 4-pin Molex connections or two 15-pin SATA power connectors with the included adapters. The 6 in 1 "ToughArmor" backplane has an individual SATA data connector for each drive bay, allowing the backplane to be used with any hard drive or RAID controller.
