The Barracuda Green 2 TB is Seagate's first hard drive to use 4 KB sectors instead of 512-byte sectors. The new standard, also known as "Advanced Format" or simply "AF," will be used by all hard drive manufacturers in the future. Let's see what are this new format and the performance of the Barracuda Green 2 TB drive.

Today’s review of the Crucial M4 256GB SSD comes as a ‘readers choice’ SSD review as it has made its way to our office only through the amount of e-mails received asking for its performance beside that of its big brothers and other SSDs of similar size. The common theme with new ‘Gen 2′ SSDs is that higher capacity equates to better performance. Our M4 128GB SSD tests seem to contradict this and we believe that Crucial just may have found the ‘sweet spot’ for this SSD.

Our readers have asked numerous times if we could take a longer term look at an SSD to see how the performance fares over time. We thought the Samsung drive would as good a guinea pig as any. Measurements on a few benchmarks were taken over the course of three months and compared against scores on a fresh drive. General perception is that a noticeable performance loss occurs. Are they right? Read on to see.

Our review today is going to concentrate on OCZs latest release of the OCZ Agility 3 SATA 3 240GB SSD and do somewhat of a comparison between this and other drives to include OCZs own Vertex 3 and Vertex 3 IOPS. The question fresh on everyone’s mind right now is definitely that of why would OCZ market another SSD with the same SandForce 2281 processor and similar configurations after just releasing the Vertex 3 MaxIOPS which was already very similar to the Vertex 3.

The Patriot Memory Supersonic 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive performed just about as expected, which means a new level of performance when upgrading from a USB 2.0 capable flash drive. The write speeds were almost as good as the published specification (70MB/s), while the read speeds actually exceeded Patriot Memory's specification (100MB/s).

After being underwhelmed by the Mach Xtreme MX-GX last week, we are moving onto the new Sharkoon Flexi-Drive Extreme Duo USB 3.0. Personally, I haven't seen too many Sharkoon products, but the company has a solid reputation. Their product line up spans several categories, but storage components and flash products seem to be their speciality.

Today for review I’ve got one of the toughest and most rugged hard drives on the market today. At least I think it is, or it’s supposed to be according to the specs. The product is the ioSafe Rugged Portable that features a 750gb hard drive in it. The ioSafe is meant to fully protect your data through the roughest conditions you could possibly think of. We’re not talking carrying it in your bag either, this thing can be burnt, dropped, run over, dunked in water, and you data will still be safe. "

Back in February, we had our first look at the OCZ Vertex 3 drive featuring the newest rendition of the SandForce SF-2200 controllers. While only a beta drive, it put up some impressive numbers as well as being one of the few SATA 6Gbps consumer drives released this year. Instead of the 240 GB version, this time around OCZ sent us over a 120 GB drive and there's definitely a difference in performance between the two. Have a look at the article to get the details.

USB flash drives have had many adjectives used to describe them: portable, handy, easy, ubiquitous. One word we haven't used enough to describe them though, is fast. Taking advantage of the extra bandwidth afforded by the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed bus, the Patriot Supersonic 32GB promises speeds faster than what most hard drives can deliver. Can it make good on those claims? Let's find out.
