After the introduction of Intel's initially expensive SSD 520 Series, SSDs which were later reduced in price, the manufacturer now releases an even more affordable version in the shape of the SSD 330 series. With this move Intel joins a trend of steadily decreasing prices for solid state storage. This is a great development for consumers that also would like to enjoy the lightning fast speeds that SSDs provide, but have been hesitant thus far due to the high prices. So how does the Intel SSD 330 measure up to the SSD 520 and the rest of the SSD market? Hardware.Info reviews and compares the new arrival with the other current solid state drives.

Over the last few months, the number of wireless storage products and options has been growing and each of them has their own individual selling points; Patriots Gauntlet Node for example allows the user to install a drive of their own choosing based on their capacity needs, whilst ADATA's DashDrive Air provides storage by connecting a USB hard drive or SD card whilst internally it houses a battery pack to charge a device through the USB port. There are also options from Kingston and Seagate as well, but overall there is one option that every other product of this nature on the market lacks and this is LAN.

While not as glamorous as some of the exotic SSDs we have looked at lately, there's still heavy interested in spinning platter drives and we had a chance to spend some quality time with the largest Seagate Momentus 2.5" drive boasting an impressive 750GB capacity. How well will some of the new features increase performance? Read on to see.

The mSATA form factor is rising in popularity and more manufacturers are releasing high performance drives to target the growing audience. Today we are looking at the latest drive from ADATA, the XPG SX300 128GB.

Today we are looking at the latest Solid State Drive from ADATA … the XPG SX910. This SX910 has native 6Gb/s support and ships with a 3.5 inch adapter and free migration software. The XPG SX910 uses a new optimised firmware to maximise the utilisation of the NAND flash. We are reviewing the 256GB version and will test it against a wide range of leading drives available today.

Some time ago, Silicon Motion had sent us a new SSD controller they were working on a prototype SSD for review. The SM2246EN controller that we looked at was a four channel SATA 3 controller, capable of 510MB/s read and 410MB/s write with up to 80K IOPS, also capable of 256-Bit AES encryption. Up until this report, that was as close as that controller had gotten to the retail market.

Vantec has been on a roll lately with their NexStar line of storage products, and their USB 3.0 dual bay HDD dock is no exception. What stands out with this unit is the ability to access two hard drives simultaneously – something that is handy for all types of buyers ranging from the casual home PC user to network admins who need a quick way to access data on a hard drive.

Just about every memory manufacturer has jumped on the solid state drive bandwagon - and Singapore-based Strontium is no exception. We take a look at two SSDs from Strontium's Matrix and Gamma product lines.

RAID can help improve the performance of hard disks and SSDs, and you can use RAID for increasing data safety in the case of hard disk failure. Each type of RAID has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages. RAID 5 is the smartest option if you want reliability with a large number of disks, but the parity information can have a negative impact on performance. The performance of RAID depends on the controller.

The WD My Passport Edge is a nice external hard disk with decent performance. It's compact and light, and comes with lots of useful software. It's a good option for an average price of £72, even if we would have liked to see better performance.
