We took a look at both of WD’s 4TB hard drive options in the past month, so it’s a great time to get some Seagate action going. The Constellation ES.3 competes with WD’s RE in the enterprise space, but it brings an interesting feature to the table: a 128MB cache. So let’s give the the drive a good test and see if it can topple the RE drive we raved over.

In this review PCSTATS take's a look at Seagate's 1TB Constellation ES drive and finds out how it stacks up against Western Digital's RE4 enterprise disks. Let the hard drive smack down commence! All Constellation ES drives are rated to 6Gb/s SATA III speeds, incorporate 64MB of cache, utilize 7200RPM spindle speeds and offer Native Command Queing.

Until SSDs can safely prove that they're a reliable long-term media for Enterprise storage, the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface owns the market share for server storage. Until Seagate launches their Solid State Drive counterpart, the 600GB Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 SAS Hard Drive ST3600057SS delivers safe and affordable high-capacity storage to data servers and Enterprise environments. The 4Gb/s FC or 6-Gb/s SAS 2.0 interface allows the perpendicular storage technology to deliver 15,000 RPM data bandwidth for an industry-leading 1.6-million-hour MTBF. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 SAS hard drive against a wide variety of storage solutions.

The concept of the Seagate Central is a good one. The hard disk behemoth wanted to develop a user-friendly NAS device, and to keep things manageable for less experienced end-users it kept features to a minimum. If all you want is to share files and be able to access them online and via mobile apps, then you don't need the vast range of features from a QNAP or Synology NAS device.

The Seagate Business Storage 8-bay Rackmount is a good option if you need lots of storage in a very compact unit. Seagate managed to fit eight disks in a 1U rack module. The performance is good, and you can increase the write speed by using both network ports. We like the firmware, it's very well-organised and includes all the main features you need in a NAS.

You get USB 3.0 in the front and back, a solid build quality, good trays for the disks and even a slot for a USM hard disk. It's really a distinguishing factor, and if you need a business-oriented NAS that will only be used for back-ups, then the Seagate Business Storage 2-bay is an interesting option. USM disks can be used in the same manner as tapes, and thanks to the SATA port it's fast. It's also very user-friendly, and using this NAS for making back-ups doesn't require a degree in IT.

If you are currently using a NAS server then you are definitely aware of the countless options available in the market as we speak from the low end single bay models designed for home use and up to the massive ultra-high end 24 bay models aimed at large businesses. What you may not be aware however is that no matter how good a NAS server is most if not all of these options come without any preinstalled drives in their bays and although some distributors take it upon themselves to equip them with their favorite drive models in the end the result is not what I’d call a plug and play AIO solution. Seagate is amongst the very few manufacturers that actually took steps to correct this by designing their very own NAS models and pairing them with their own drives in order to simplify the entire procedure and offer consumers the easy way out. Today we will be taking a look at the base model by Seagate the Business Storage 1-Bay 3TB.

The BlackArmor PS110 500GB drive is Seagate's first entry into the new world of USB 3.0 hard drives. And considering that it may be the typical consumers first USB 3.0 product, they have put together a great bundle to make the transition as easy as possible. You get not only the 500GB drive, but everything else you might need to use this with a laptop computer.

Seagate has been busy expanding their offerings to include items that do well to compliment their core business. From a variety of more traditional external storage devices to their media players, I have been impressed with what they have had to offer beyond just hard drives lately. The BlackArmor NAS 440 12TB network storage server is no exception.

We all know Seagate's consumer and enterprise products, but Seagate also has a growing list of end user storage products. For the last couple of years we've pretty much ignored these consumer and entry level enterprise products, since we tend to focus on raw hard drives; but that is about to change.
