One of the most exciting things about reporting on solid state technology is being on the cutting edge of advance and having the opportunity to introduce introduce next generation products to the world. This morning is a perfect example of just that and we guarantee our review of the first official 12Gbps SAS SSD will be one of one a very select few having their hands on a similar solution. As a comparable, it is like being the first two demonstrate a twelve cylinder engine in a world of eight.
12Gbps SAS is not entirely new though as it has been demonstrated by manufacturers for a few years now, the problem being of course that fine tuning, and lack of hardware to allow its proper implementation and testing, have kept it out of the hands of the world. Our introduction and review of the Ultrastar HGST SSD800MM 400GB 12Gbps SSD changes all of that. The beauty of this report though is enhanced by LSI who have graciously provided their new, and as of yet unannounced and unreleased, LSI SAS 9300-8e HBA.

Have an Android device that's quickly running out of space due to limited internal memory? Have a large collection of apps that refuse to move over to your SD card? If either of these is true, then you need to know about a simple tweak that can be done to forcibly move over many apps to your SD card - all without rooting.

Today for review I've got an SATA to USB 3.0 adapter from Unitek, it was provided by USBFever.com for our review today. This adapter is like others that utilize USB 2.0 on the market, but this one of course uses the USB 3.0 specification and connection. It's simple to use, it works and works well...

Outside of the performance, though, where the TS-1079 Pro shines is in the ridiculously huge feature set that's offered by it. The hardware side is extremely strong as they've made the move to the Sandy Bridge platform, but software feature list is just huge and if you go through it and start to break it down, you can see that the TS-1079 Pro does a good job of catering to so many markets.

Today am looking at the Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SSD or Solid State Drive. If you haven’t got one yet then you might be willing to think about it after this review. Now the funny thing is that both the Corsair CSSD-F120GB3-BK and the Corsair CSSD-F120GB3A are the same but apart from the “A” having a newer firmware it’s price is lower as well. The CSSD-F120GB3-BK (which includes a drive bay bracket) goes for about a 122 euro’s here in The Netherlands whereas the Corsair CSSD-F120GB3A would set you back a mere 109 euro’s.

Today for review I’ve got the Kingston SSDNow V Series 128gb SSD, but it’s not just the drive I have as they sent me the Notebook bundle kit. The last Kingston SSD I reviewed was the 40gb SSDNow V desktop upgrade kit so getting this one makes a nice contrast to the other. These new SSD drives from Kingston are faster than the first generation and their main new feature is the addition of TRIM support now. It might be named the notebook bundle but the drive can be used fro anything as you might expect, but to make things easier for those of us that want to upgrade our notebooks Kingston included a rather nice USB enclosure so you can clone your SSD via USB quickly and easily. In the following review I’ve compared the new Kingston SSDnow V to the last generation and to another value priced SSD I’ve got on hand, I also decided to toss the SSDNow V drive into a USB3.0 enclosure and test it that way to see the results. So read on to see the comparison and learn more about the new Kingston SSDnow V SSD…

ADATA’s SP900 from the beginning gave me the impression that it’s mainly aimed at the daily PC user, and in that regard it gives very good performance

Perhaps one of the best mindsets I have seen in my six years in the SSD industry is the ambition to, not only improve SSD technology, but to also take them to the next level. Selling a consumer SSD as an enterprise one will always be a shot in the dark, but the appetite of SSD manufacturers to push their consumer SSDs into that very realm can only be seen as a huge plus to the consumer. The inevitable effect today has top manufacturers watching one another very closely, only to run back to the boardroom with their teams in hopes of creating a better product, all the while understanding that SSD pricing continues to decline.
OCZ has traditionally done just this and today is no different as we provide analysis on their newest enthusiast level SSD, the OCZ Vector 150. Consider that, not so long ago many wrote about OCZ to be evacuating the consumer SSD market for enterprise, this release is a bit unexpected. Add to this the news that OCZ is also working on the new RevoDrive 400 to replace their longstanding ‘king of the hill’ Revo 3 Series PCIe solutions, and we can see that OCZ still has their feet firmly planted in the consumer SSD world.

All DVD-burners are the same, right? So what makes one better than the next. It's rare these days to hear about an optical drive, with all the other components that are getting faster, greener, and cheaper. Today, Benchmark Reviews is taking a look at ASUS's most recent addition to the optical drive market, the ASUS DRW-24B1ST 24x DVD+/-RW. Many of us may have recently been contemplating an upgrade to our old drives. After a few years of wear and tear, optical drives can give out. Also, with recent upgrades in motherboards, you might find yourself without an IDE channel, necessitating the purchase of a newer SATA model drive. Benchmark Reviews will test the ASUS DRW-24B1ST against other optical drives with USB, IDE, and SATA connectors to find out just exactly what ASUS has in store with it's newest DVD-Burner.
