Intel has a reputation for producing some of the most reliable solid state drives on the market. They tend to lag behind the market slightly in terms of technology, as they spend more time ensuring that their SSDs offer the best performance and reliability. Today we are going to take a look at Intel's latest mainstream SSD offering, the 330 Series.
Storage
Since their first SSD Intel have taken a few approaches to building the devices. Initially they went with their own controllers within the drives and it is fair to say that those drives were some of the best in early generations. Since then we have seen them dabble with updated controllers under their own brand, try out Marvell and more recently release a Sandforce based drive in the form of the 520 series.

Intel was gracious enough to send a shiny new drive to the lab for review, so first off we would like to thank Intel for their generosity and the opportunity to review another of their newly minted 20nm Lithography MLC Flash equipped SSD’s. The drive I am speaking of is a member of Intel’s newly launched 335 Series; this time in a 180GB capacity.
Storage
Intel is back again with another MLC/SandForce Based drive sporting Intel’s customized firmware. This drive is the newest in Intel’s 300 Series of Solid State Drives. The Intel SSD 335 we are going review today is basically an update to the 330. The 335 is sporting faster and more power efficient 20nm NAND Flash Memory. There are probably some firmware improvements to go along with the newer NAND but overall the 335 is a 330 with 20nm NAND Flash.

Looking for a mainstream SSD but need help deciding which to choose? Is that $10 difference really worth it? Who’s got the most reliable SandForce based-SSD around? Why does Intel have so many SandForce SSDs anyway? All these questions and more are answered within!

The Intel 335 Series is known as 'That Intel Drive with 20nm Flash', but it's so much more. The 180GB capacity size gives you comfort room with Windows 8 and does very well in our power test.

Ever since Solid State Drives (SSDs) were first introduced to the general public roughly 5 years ago they have been amongst my favorite hardware components and in a way monopolized my reviews up until a year ago. The reason behind that last part is that although up until a year ago there were large performance jumps with each new model released (making it more than worth testing to see the exact difference in speed with previous models) that no longer was the case and so inside 2012 the only thing that really changed was the price of such devices. Still many of you have asked several SSD reviews during the past 2 months and as always we obliged by starting to gather several samples from the leading manufacturers. This time over however in order to be more "time effective" we will not wait until we have 10-20 all together for a large comparison like the old days (more impressive but takes too much time to complete) and so on our test bench today lays the latest Intel 335 Series 240GB SATA III model.
Storage
Intel has refreshed their SSD line with the release of the 335 Series that, while still using the SF-2281 controller, throws something new into the mix with their 20nm NAND flash. How this impacts performance is exactly what we set out to see in addition to giving our overall impressions of the drive and see if it's worthy of your hard earned dollars.

Intel revamps its mainstream 300 class SSD with new 20nm synchronous flash in the 335 Series solid state drive.
