OCZ Technology launched their Vertex 3 solid state drive based on the second-generation LSI-SandForce SF-2281 processor back in early 2011, making it a familiar storage product among high-performance enthusiasts. Two years later they've revisited the popular design, and made several improvements. Now available with 20nm Synchronous Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND flash components, Vertex 3.20 is designed to offer better performance for less cost. Vertex 3.20 arrives in 120GB and 240GB capacities, both offering 550 MB/s reads and 520 MB/s writes. In this article Benchmark Reviews tests the 120GB OCZ Vertex 3.20 SSD (model VTX3-25SAT3-120G.20), and compare it against the fastest SATA 6GB/s storage solutions.

The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 series has been around since 2010 and has a proven track record of being fast and reliable USB 3.0 Flash drives. The latest third generation drives have an updated appearance and are also thinner, faster and less costly than the previous generations. It is hard to find something complain about when the price of the DataTravler Ultimate 3.0 32GB drive goes from $100 in 2010 with 80MB/s read speeds to $38.06 shipped with 150MB/s read speeds. Nearly doubling performance and more than halving the price tag is pretty sweet...

Compact discs, when compared to USB flash drives, are really not as compact as once thought, nor are 4GBs considered a ‘huge’ size anymore. With high resolution pictures taking up 20MB per shot and high definition videos eating up gigabytes worth of space every minute, photographers having to lug notebooks or external storage devices are most likely breathing a collective sigh of relief with the release of Patriot’s Supersonic Magnum 256GB USB 3.0 thumb drive.

Recently Corsair made some changes to their popular Neutron Series products. Both the base model and GTX have new firmware, new flash and new price points. The Neutron 256GB is now one of the best value SSD's on the market and they are selling like crazy.

With our ever-increasing need for storage, 4TB models couldn't be more tempting. On the scale of temptation, though, one drive is placed higher than all the others: Seagate's Desktop HDD.15. There's one good reason for that: it costs less than $200. We hear you – it sounds crazy. Let’s dig in and find out if it really is.

It's been quite a long time since we're published a RAID report. Today is Seagate's big day with four product categories emerging from under the covers. We ended up with a pair for 600 SSD 240GB drives so it was a perfect opportunity to try them in RAID 0.

Seagate finally gives in and prepares to enter the consumer SSD market. At the same time, the company is extending their enterprise portfolio in an effort to catch up to competitors.

You might remember us breaking the news of Seagate’s planned entry into the SSD arena at ceBIT in Germany last March. This morning’s news of two 2.5" form factor SSDs, one 12Gb/s SAS, and one PCIe SSD, marks Seagate's official jump into the SSD arena...and what a jump it is. Even better news is that today we are bringing to you a detailed analysis of Seagate’s new 600 SSD a notebook form factor SATA 3 SSD that will be the first in 5mm notebook ultra-thin SSDs.
