Icydock's tool and rail free backplane module is called the MB973SP-B. It stores three 3.5" SATA hard drives in the space of two 5.25" drive bays. No hard drive rails or tools are needed, just open one of the three bays and slide a SATA hard drive in right side up, then close the door. On top of that, forced cooling is built in to prevent excessive heat build up, something that isn't always available (or plugged in) within the PC chassis.

I wish there was just ONE little black box that would allow an IT Admin to connect any kind of hard drive to it, so there's no need to crack open a computer system, mess with BIOS settings or waste time trying to move GBs over slow USB 2.0... Meet the focus of this review, IcyDock's MB981U3N-1SA USB 3.0 2.5/3.5" SATA & IDE hard drive adaptor. IT Admin's are going to like this....

The IcyDock MB994SP-4SB-1 is just such a unit - it packs (4) 2.5" HDD/SSD drives into the space of a single 5.25" drive bay and provides unified power and SATA hook ups at the rear. On top of its high density convenience, all four SATA drive bays are hot swappable without the need to pop off a side panel or disconnect cables.

IcyDock have been releasing many cool adapters and gadgets recently, and today we are looking at the SSD Xpander, a device that allows the user to combine a Solid State Drive with a mechanical drive.

The upgrade kit bundled with this drive will make the process of migrating from your old drive simple, whether the system is a laptop or a desktop. With the inclusion of the convenient USB enclosure and the bootable Acronis drive management software, I was able to make the move from a hard drive to the Imation SSD in under 20 minutes on my laptop.

There are occasions where you need to transport information of a sensitive nature while not worrying if it gets into the wrong hands. For that reason, many companies have created flash drives with a focus squarely being on security. We at ASE Labs have reviewed such products in the past, but the Imation Defender F200 Biometric Flash Drive is the first one we have seen that forgoes using traditional password encryption. Instead, it uses a fingerprint scanner to protect your data.

With SSDs becoming more popular and with newer operating systems finally offering native support, it is only natural that more and more companies would be stepping into the ring with products. Today, HardwareLogic has the Imation M-Class 128GB SSD for review, and is one of Imation's many entries into the SSD market.

Remember when Bluetooth came out? No one bothered to care for a long time until an explosion happened a few years ago. We believe that Wireless USB is in the same boat. The technology solves a problem that people need; the ability to connect peripherals to their computer without a wire. It is just that we are suffering on the implementation and faced without market saturation, the Wireless USB field seems to be stagnating. There are glimmers of hope and Imation brings the first Wireless USB enclosure to the table.

For this review I will be looking at a product from a manufacturer that until fairly recently, a couple of months or so ago, I had never come across before. The company is In Win and the product of theirs I am looking at for this review is a laptop hard drive enclosure, but with a nice added security feature of RFID.

Hard drive enclosures seem to be a dime a dozen lately as storage prices continue to drop and users have more data than ever to backup. In Win, however, has an enclosure that stands out from the crowd in a couple of ways. Read on to find out more about this ammo cartridge-shaped enclosure with RFID encryption technology.
