According to Google, success is broadly defined as "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose". But what does it specifically mean to you? Back in the day, I have heard many individuals craving for lots of money to live well. Others have dreamed of owning many exotic cars. As for myself, I like to follow Albert Einstein's formula. "A + B + C = Success, if A = Hard Work, B = Hard Play, C = Keeping your mouth shut." If any one of those elements were taken out of the formula, success does not exist in my world. Personally, this has been very applicable with many tasks that I accomplish, especially when it comes down to important work that must be done, whether it be at school or at work. Missing hard work would lead to a low quality end product. Having no "play" will simply drive you up the wall. Lastly, keeping my mouth shut is how I personally get things done without getting distracted. Writing papers and delivering presentations with appropriate content is what makes the audience keep reading and paying attention from start to finish. When it comes down to technology, I apply the same concept in consumer products I obtain. I look for products that pack both quality and fun together, while being advertised in an elegant and presentable way. What we have here today is QNAP's TS-219P II network attached storage system. While maintaining its clean looks, it packs quite a big punch with the amount of features loaded for the end user. Despite its size, I'm sure this little guy wow you just as much as other products in the line such as the QNAP TS-559 Pro II reviewed by my colleague Jonathan not too long ago. Earlier in the year OCZ Technology announced their plans to acquire Indilinx, the company responsible for bringing some of the first real consumer friendly (i.e. low cost) SSDs to market in 2009. The first fruit from that tree has hit our lab and it sports a new controller from Indilinx and a new era for OCZ. OCZ is now in a unique position, no longer just another RAM turned SSD cloner, but a fully fledged member of the small club that steers technology rather than just rides along. Kingston’s HyperX brand originally garnered its reputation making high-speed memory for PC enthusiasts. During this past year Kingston has been branching the HyperX labeling into other products; most recently with their SSD drives and now with today’s review item – the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0.

The whole shapes and sizes thing, while it might not seem like an issue, it is actually a big problem when you try to use them. Patriot was one of the biggest offenders, their Magnum products managed to achieve up to 128GB of capacity which sounds great, but you can't plug them into an Xbox 360 or many other products that limit the width around the connector. Patriot isn't the only offender, around half of the USB 3.0 drives we've tested are oversized and either blocks other USB ports or just can't fit into some of the devices we want to plug into.
RunCore saw this as a problem too so when they set out to design their Pro IV MoonDrive they wanted to keep things simple and streamlined. The Pro IV MoonDrive's profile isn't that much different than the low cost flash drives you see at the grocery store hanging on a rack next to the batteries for children's toys. In our testing we found that the new DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 is almost as fast as the HyperX MAX 3.0 we tested last year, a USB 3.0 solid state drive. A few weeks ago we published a review of the RunCore Moon and found it reads data at right around 160MB/s. The HyperX branded DataTraveler reached 240MB/s while reading data in our tests, a full 80MB/s faster than the Moon! Kingston may have just knocked it out of the park with the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0.
Kingston is already selling three capacity sizes of the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0. Those are 64GB, 128GB and a massive 256GB size that can hold over 51,000 10MP pictures. Today we're looking at the 64GB drive that is on sale now at Newegg for just under $130.
The term “caching drive” is something that many people are becoming accustomed to as are we.
