Mit der „Performance 3“-Serie führt Corsair den aktualisierten Marvell-Controller ein. Wir analysieren, wie sich die Corsair P3 gegen die etablierte von Konkurrenz schlägt. The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlext Ultra-Portable hard drive is more than just a portable 2.5" SATA HDD. key to the system's brilliant usefulness is that Seagate designed this hard drive to interface with a series of modular cable interface adaptors, docks and a media player. It's what you'd call, really very flexible.

We all use USB sticks at work or at home, it's the easiest and often the fastest way to copy or transfer some files. There's a huge number of different ones out there - some extremely cheap, and others more expensive. It can be a challenge to find a good one, and now that USB 3.0 memory sticks are becoming more common, that's even more the case. Are they by default faster than a USB 2.0 stick? The marketing text on the packaging of course says so, but in practice it's not always the case. We tested 32 different USB 3.0 memory sticks and can give you the definitive answer.

A lot has changed since the announcement of the Optimus Eco earlier this year. The most notable change is the company supplying it. When we last looked into SMART Storage Systems, they had just finished being acquired by SanDisk. At that point, though, nothing had really changed except for ‘a SanDisk Company’ being added to their name. Many were unsure exactly how the SMART brand would fit into the SanDisk family. With the release of the SanDisk Optimus Eco SAS SSD, with full SanDisk labeling, we have a much clearer picture.

While there is no doubt that in the not too distant future we will be transferring gigabytes quickly across the planet at very little cost – right now the movement of very large files still requires a physical device. Always happy to play at the high end in terms of quality and price, we are happy to see the SanDisk Extreme pro 128GB USB 3 drive land in our offices. Let’s see if it is driven to succeed.

Today we are testing the new Areca 1880ix-12 RAID controller. This is Areca' premier SATA 3 internal RAID offering and signifies a great leap forward for a company known to cater to the enthusiast crowd. With the speed and power of SSDs reinventing mainstream storage, RAID card manufacturers have been under tremendous pressure to deliver a product that can handle the massive throughput and high random reads of SSD's combined into ultra speedy RAID arrays.

Mushkin is best known for their memory products and while they don't have an expansive line of SSDs, they offer a drive for just about every type of user. The Chronos MX is not their flagship drive but chews up some serious data with popular SF-2281 controller under the hood. How does it compare with the long list of SandForce drives we tested? Have a look!

It is no secret that the popularity of mSATA SSDs is being pushed around just a bit by M.2 PCIe design. M.2 SSDs may even tempt us with a great deal more power for the punch and capacity down the road. What M.2 doesn’t have, as of yet, is just about every popular ultra book in the world in their pocket and that is where mSATA SSDs feel secure. It is kind of like the SATA 2 to SATA 3 move made in SSDs where, as much as SATA 3 is faster and makes sense, 99.8% of the population uses SATA 2. You can imagine that we were more than a bit surprised when our expected receipt of a 512GB Toshiba Client notebook SSD not only included a 256GB mSATA form factor as well, but also, we think this is the first official shot of their new Client M.2 PCIe SSD in the wild; it being 512GB as well. Although we are not to sure about placement of the notebook SSD variation article, we can guarantee that the M.2 SSD will be fully reviewed soon enough on our sister site, The SSD Review We are off on a flight half way around the world early tomorrow am and returning Friday so expect the M.2 posting on TSSDR early next week.
