SSDs are now becoming far more common place in our gaming and work machines. The price tag might still be too high for many, but everyone can see the rediculous performance gains that can be made by moving to this flash based storage medium over traditional disks. Which group you fall in to though is neither here nor there, as whether you plan to buy it or not, today I'm reviewing a SSD from Kingston; their V100 +. Let's check it out.

Corsair's Nova V128 series SSD isn't quite the speed demon that their Force series is on paper, but we've already seen other SSDs with Indilinx controllers punch out decent benchmark results. Really, it's likely a matter of how well their firmware performs. We show that and more in our in-depth review.

Nearly two years ago, OCZ purchased Indilinx and ever since we've waited to see the fruits of that investment. That time is here. The Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller graces the innards Vector Series SSDs for which OCZ, now under new leadership, promises to deliver with a renewed focus on quality and reliability in addition to extreme performance. Will the Vector deliver or is has the Indilinx purchase been largely a bust? See what we found out in our latest SSD review.

One thing that has pleased many a hardware nerd in the past few years is that geek culture has received a bit more recognition in main steam society; it's no longer hugely uncool to be a bit more technologically inclined. Because of this, there's certain nerdy fashions that are beginning to cross over; one of these is the pen drive round the neck. However finding one that appeals to women was always going to be a bit harder to do, however Moneaul Swarovksi have a solution: crystal.

The need for throughput speed has brought us to the next paradigm shift in data access: the Solid State Drive, or SSD. If you're any type of PC enthusiast then you know that SSDs use fast NAND flash chips to store and retrieve data, which have significantly higher throughput rates and lower access times than even the fastest of magnetic hard drives. These drives are starting to become cheap enough that they're within reach of the average consumer, and every computing enthusiast should have at least one.

We first saw the Patriot Wildfire back in June of 2011 and at the time it was one of the hottest new SSDs on the market. That was around 9 months ago so while no longer new, Wildfire is still competitive with, and considered one of the best on the market today. The key to Wildfire's longevity is the Toshiba Toggle Mode flash Patriot chose to use on this SSD.
Toshiba and their partner SanDisk has received a lot of press lately for their new 24nm Toggle Mode flash. The new 24nm flash has proven to be very fast, but that is about the only thing it's proved so far. We're still seeing issues in our labs with write performance degrading rapidly until TRIM finishes its cycle. This was not a problem on the older 32nm Toggle Mode flash, the same used on the Patriot Wildfire.
