We take a look at Thermaltake's BlacX Duet dual dock, but will all the results sing in harmony or will there be a bad tempo somewhere inside?

Last week Crucial released a firmware update that fixed the issues with TRIM and even though Crucial spent many hours testing the software, a compatibility issue popped up with some popular enthusiast motherboards and the firmware update tool, so the new update was pulled from Crucial’s website. With V2 firmware now out of reach for consumers, Crucial is working feverously to get a new update tool ready. At anytime the firmware and new update tool will be released and it appears that Crucial is going to be able to escape heavy criticism from both the tech media and consumers. We will cover this topic more in our next installment of The State of Solid State coming just after Computex.

OCZ Vertex 3.20 240GB SSD Review @ Myce

For this review I will be looking at a product from a manufacturer that until fairly recently, a couple of months or so ago, I had never come across before. The company is In Win and the product of theirs I am looking at for this review is a laptop hard drive enclosure, but with a nice added security feature of RFID.

While the DS210j was a nice simple server, there are people that require more horsepower from a dedicated storage and application server. Synology has just released the DS211 which doubles the speed and memory from the older, SOHO targeted, unit. The DiskStation Manager 3.0 software rounds out the product for a smash hit.

Many things come to mind when we think about portable storage; USB pen drives, USB external drives and maybe even some eSATA solid state hybrid drives if you have a taste for the exotic. None of these are going to cut it when other people's money is on the line, because they should all be considered temporary storage. Valuable data should always remain in a redundant state, be that a NAS server or multiple copies kept on different devices.

It might not seem like SSDs have been around very long, but OCZ has been a pioneer in the technology for almost four years already. They've traditionally offered several different options for performance enthusiasts, from economic yet responsive storage to premium high-speed enthusiast solid state drive solutions. While their Vertex series deliver the fastest SSD's available, the more affordable Agility family accommodates cost-conscious builders and comes available in 60-240GB capacities. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the OCZ Agility 3 SSD, model AGT3-25SAT3, which is based on the SandForce SF-2281 SATA 6GB/s controller and IMFT-branded async-NAND flash components.

On a number of motherboards that we look at today, we find a feature that to some is a little overlooked and in some cases ignored altogether, namely the mSATA port. mSATA is not a brand new technology in its own right and has been around for a few years now, mainly in the laptop and notebook markets where space is at a premium and the compact build of the drives is well suited.

Just last week we showed the Seagate Constellation.2 1TB SATA drive. The new Constellation.2 proved to be a worthy successor to the popular Constellation Series and it outperforms the first generation drive by a significant margin. Seagate also managed to double the capacity of the series while keeping the price of the new drives in line with the old offerings.

The latest Seagate Savvio 10K.5 900GB 2.5inch SAS hard disk drive is proof that we have finally reached a spot where the smaller and greener 2.5" HDDs can now match and even surpass the performance levels of their larger 3.5" brothers.
