If you don't follow the SSD market like a hawk you may have missed Mushkin's recent rise to fame. Mushkin was the first SSD maker to announce, release, ship, and sell an extended capacity SandForce SF-1200 based SSD. At the same time I was writing about OCZ's Vertex 2 E, one of only a few in the country, Mushkin already had drives at Newegg and selling them at prices lower than anyone else's pre-MP2 releases.

Today for review iStar has sent me over the BPU-124V2-SS which allows you to put four 2.5” drives into the space of one 5.25” PC bay. The setup can be used for raid, or you can just use it as a hot swap rack to quickly and easily switch drives and transfer data to and from places. The cage itself is very nicely made, each bay locks individually and there's even two 40mm cooling fans built right in to keep things nice and cool.

Today for review Patriot has sent me of the Gauntlet USB 3.0 enclosure for 2.5” hard drives and SSDs. The Gauntlet is extremely well made of aluminum, it looks great and it’s inexpensive when compared to others, even those that are no-name or generic brands. Included with the enclosure is an extra USB power cable in case you might need it and the enclosure even has a backup button on it to be used in conjunction with the included software to make your backups quick and easy.

We had our first taste of Super Talent’s SuperCrypt USB 3.0 thumb drive at Computex back in June. Super Talent was set up in the Taipei 101 at the GIGABYTE USB 3.0 Showcase that displayed several new USB 3.0 products from several manufacturers. GIGABYTE put Super Talent at the head of the tables and after seeing the SuperCrypt and RAIDDrive, Super Talent’s high performance USB 3.0 thumb drives, it was easy to see why GIGABYTE wanted to showcase these creations.

The DS210+ can manage up to 2x2TB drives, a phenomenal amount of space for a small and medium business user or someone like me with a massive home network, and I know there are many more like me out there! The performance of the DS210+ speaks for itself, it's fast. We are at the point where Gigabit technology will soon be the limitation on NAS units. The DS210+ puts out 110MB/s read and close to 80MB/s write when the theoretical maximum of Gigabit is only 125MB/s. How will Synology improve upon what they have now is anyone's guess.
