While many people have yet to upgrade to a regular Solid State Storage drive, there are professional users who demand even more performance. For this high end audience, OCZ have specially crafted the RevoDrive 3 x2, which is said to be the fastest consumer drive by a considerable margin.

I think most people don’t think much about hard drives really; at least the average person doesn’t anyway. Most average people have a pre-built box computer and they just accept what’s in it and that’s that. People like me though build our own computers and we seek out the best performing hard drive we can find as we want the fastest and the best. Seagate is known for their Barracuda line of drives, they offer decent performance and that’s what I’ve got for review today.

Having the ability to transfer data from one computer to another with out the need for a network or the internet is something that was solved years ago and external hard drives as an option of expanding you're existing storage is also nothing new. This said and looking more at mobile storage, file sizes are not getting any smaller and this does mean that flash drives soon become less of an option. Whilst flash drives are available in capacities ranging right up to 256GB, lets be honest, they're not cheap in respect and are priced in a similar fashion to an SSD of similar capacity. This is where hard drives, whilst a slower medium, come back into play as they're cost per GB of storage is far more reasonable.

Additionally, I have always found them to offer good products for great value. Today I’ll be looking at the Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB (with O/S Transfer kit). Let’s see if it fits with my previous experience of offering good value for money.

Showing up today at the office is a product that really excites us! Seagate has sent their Satellite 500GB mobile wireless storage device. It is more than just a storage device, it is made to stream media to multiple devices, up to 8 over WiFi or 3 HD movies at once. With one of the very few devices with this capability, Seagate is on the leading edge with their Satellite. Being able to stream for about 7 hours and a standby time of up to 25 hours, you will get plenty of use out of every charge. Now, how about really putting the Satellite through the paces and see how well it does … So sit back, relax and enjoy the future of external hard drives.
