With the prices of hard drives slowly coming back to manageable prices, we've seen a trend of new storage "accessories" being released to the market. Today we will be looking at a hybrid between portable and RAID. The Akitio Taurus Mini Super-S LCM supports 2x 2.5" drives in either a RAID 0 (stripe) or RAID 1 (mirror). Lets take a look at what Akitio has to say about their product:
There is a glass ceiling in the world of NAS devices, and like all glass ceilings it's not that obvious until you bang your head against it a few times. The standard-issue network interface in the IT world is a one Gigabit Ethernet connection. Convert bits to bytes and you end up with a less impressive sounding 125 MB/s interface.
