The DiskStation DS412+ is another high performance NAS from Synology which allows a total of 4 HDDs/SSDs to be installed for enough storage space and are cooled properly with the two included 92mm fans, which are also silent during normal operation. On a single LAN connection, the unit maxes out the read/write transfer speeds and the “beast” is really unleashed when used in enterprise environments, with the “Link Aggregation” feature enabled.
Today we are looking at one of their new models, the budget Diskstation DS411j which offers a cost effective file storage and backup solution with Raid Protection for multi user home environments.
Speaking of the hardware alone, the Synology DiskStation 411+ NAS is fantastic. I cannot think of any issues one might have with the unit. It would take a serious number of users to fully tax the hardware; more people than you would typically find at the DS411+'s target market of small to medium-sized businesses.
