Storage capacity is one very large problem that haunts professionals and enthusiasts since as far back as i can recall but nowadays due to the appearance of new technologies like 1080p and even 4k things are even worse. Sure consumers can now find several 4/6TB external desktop solutions (even 8TB ones are available but in much smaller numbers) but what happens when that's simply not enough and you want to make the best out of the available desktop space? Luckily many manufacturers have released numerous 3.5" external enclosures in the recent years for all tastes featuring as many as eight 2.5/3.5" bays which end users can use with multiple RAID and/or JBOD modes. Teratrend by SilverStone released several external enclosures a couple of years ago and since we finally have access to their product lines today we're testing the flagship TS432U model.

We may still be far away from a time when solid state drives regardless of type (PCIe/M.2/SATA) will replace mechanical disk drives altogether (largely due to capacity limitations) but as things stand today they have managed to replace them at least partially as the "weapon" of choice for use as a primary OS drive. Because of that most SSD manufacturers have shifted much of their focus from the production of high-performance models aimed towards enthusiasts, gamers and professionals to the production of entry-level "budget" models aimed towards casual users and gamers who are just now taking their first steps with this technology. OCZ made a great comeback after being acquired by Toshiba and after releasing two great SSD models (ARC 100 and Vector 180) it was just a matter of time before they too released a more "entry" level one and its name is the Trion 100.

When it comes to storage media it's no secret that laptop/notebook owners have been getting the short end of the stick for over a decade now something which is about to change since manufacturers have finally begun to focus in the development of 2.5" drives up to 3TB (as the name of the drive clearly states laptop owners may not be their primary target group but that matters very little in the end since anyone can use it). Certainly compared to the 6, 8 and 10TB 3.5" desktop models available 3TB may not seem as a breakthrough but since until recently the highest capacity model consumers had access to was just 1.5TB we're basically talking about a 100% increase. Unfortunately 3TB 2.5" drives may be a reality but they are months away from a massive release and so today we're going to be taking a look at the next best thing which is no other than the 2TB Enterprise Capacity 2.5 HDD V3 model by Seagate.

PC cases offer a large number of HDD trays nowadays allowing people to mount and use several drives without ever having to worry about storage capacity. Still for professionals and even enthusiasts there's no such thing as sufficient storage space and because of that external HDD enclosures offer a good way to expand drive capacity without much hassle. HDD enclosures may not be hard to use and usually it doesn't take long to mount a drive inside but for people looking for the easiest and fastest possible way to use 3.5/2.5" drives nothing beats the simplicity of a HDD/SSD docking station. Docking stations however have evolved quite a bit over the years so dual bay models are not only the easiest way to access two 3.5/2.5" drives but also to clone one onto another and the CR-H236 by CineRAID which we have here with us today is one such model.
