Thanks to the newly released Corsair Voyager GO USB Flash Drive, we will be able to transfer data to and from our mobile devices supporting OTG easier and faster. The Flash Drive can be also used to clear up smartphone NAND space when we reach the upper limit or do regular backups of important information in case something fails.

About this time last year, we were reviewing the Crucial M500 960GB This was the first drive to really put 1 TB of flash storage at a price where consumers could realistically own one. In the past year, Micron released the enterprise-focused M500 under their brand. They are now back with the M500DC that shares its roots with both of those drives.

Recently Seagate began really pushing the high end of the storage market again with the launch of their Enterprise Capacity 3.5 v4 range. With models at 5TB and 6TB we can create some pretty spectacular storage systems but they are more than just that. Seagate have also tuned them for high performance... so massive capacity and speeds quoted over 200MB/s read/write from a single mechanical drive? Today we have the 6TB version attached to our system, let's see if it can live up to the claims.

Judging by sales numbers around the globe it seems that NAS servers have finally managed to replace full computer systems in some areas due to their size, low power consumption and easy to use menus and functions. This of course applies mostly to large enterprise environments where several such devices get used and thus the benefits from the mentioned features are even greater. Small business and home users also turn towards NAS servers to cover their needs (mostly for office use) but to my knowledge at least not many people actually choose to use NAS servers purely for their media sharing capabilities and the ones that do never really place them inside their bedrooms to avoid getting disturbed by their noise levels (even just 20dBA is quite audible at night). QNAP is the first NAS manufacturer to address that issue by releasing the first dual bay model of the SilentNAS series called the HS-210.

With all the new Ultra HD (4K2K) video cameras coming out to the market such as the Canon 1-D C and Panasonic Lumix GH4, media professionals need faster writing and larger capacity memory cards. While normal UHS-I U1 and Class 10 cards are fine for normal 1080p HD video recording, a minimum write speed of 10MB/s doesn’t cut it for 4K video. Media professionals need UHS-I U3 rated cards or better to record seamlessly without lag or degradation of performance. UHS-I speed class 3 cards deliver a sustained write speed of at least 30MB/s.
