SATA compatible solid state drives (SSDs) may have been the ones to start their very own small performance revolution in the PC market almost a decade ago but as we speak thanks to several advancements in the field the tiny M.2 and full size PCI-express based models are the ones mostly preferred by professionals, serious gamers and enthusiasts. Fortunately although a few years back consumers only had a handful of such solutions to choose from by just a couple of manufacturers today most have at several such models in their product lines something which as expected has helped not only keep prices low but has also helped boost performance and durability levels. Plextor is without doubt one of the oldest players in the market and although they already have a rather successful PCIe SSD model in their lineup (M6e) they just recently released an updated version called the M6e Black Edition.

When it comes to storage media it's no secret that laptop/notebook owners have been getting the short end of the stick for over a decade now something which is about to change since manufacturers have finally begun to focus in the development of 2.5" drives up to 3TB (as the name of the drive clearly states laptop owners may not be their primary target group but that matters very little in the end since anyone can use it). Certainly compared to the 6, 8 and 10TB 3.5" desktop models available 3TB may not seem as a breakthrough but since until recently the highest capacity model consumers had access to was just 1.5TB we're basically talking about a 100% increase. Unfortunately 3TB 2.5" drives may be a reality but they are months away from a massive release and so today we're going to be taking a look at the next best thing which is no other than the 2TB Enterprise Capacity 2.5 HDD V3 model by Seagate.

Secure Digital (SD) card should not sound new to you if you have any gadget like digital camera, smart phone or similar devices that requires external storage as SD card is being widely used since last old years ago. SD card has quite number of advantages such as small size and low cost. Today we will review Kingston 4GB & 8GB microSDHC which is an ideal storage media for mobile phone.

Today we have three SSD's on our test bench from Intel, Patriot and Super Talent. Each has a different capacity and cost but all will be placed through a selection of synthetic and real world tests to establish which drive is ideal for consumers first leap into the SSD market.

Lower power consumption and heat output are the least impressive benefits of Solid State Drives. The real payoff is in the practically instant response time and high-performance throughput. Once SSDs could outperform their HDD counterpart, it was all about price and capacity. Adding up to 64MB of Elpida DRAM to the buffer has permanently solved stuttering problems, making raw performance the last bottleneck. An Indilinx 'Barefoot' internal controller commands the bank of Samsung K9HCG08U1M DRAM modules, allowing a single OCZ Vertex SSD to offer impressive capacity with unmatched performance. But what if we put two Vertex SSDs into a striped RAID-0 array? Benchmark Reviews tests the speed and bandwidth of two OCZSSD2-1VTX120G SSDs against! the fastest storage products on the planet in this OCZ Vertex SSD RAID-0 performance article.

OCZ Apex is an entry level SSD proposal for users who wish speed and proper price. While the drive is based at JMikron controller, it didn't showed much shuttering effect, but writing speeds need further improvement.

External storage systems have really hit it off in recent years with people wanting to transfer more and more data from one computer to another. The enclosures have evolved to be very easy to use and able to support IDE and SATA hard drives utilising both USB and eSATA connections. However, with USB performance lagging behind, more and more users are turning to eSATA for its much higher read/write speeds. Let’s take a look at the Eagle Tech Consus T-Series to see what kind of performance it can offer…
