Suzhou CoreRise Electronics Corporation is new to the industry, but they're starting off big. As the 91st manufacturer to join the Solid State Drive industry, CoreRise introduced themselves into the market back in 2010 with an Indilinx-based SSD, and have returned to expand their product family using LSI-SandForce technology for the new Comay Venus Pro 3 SSD. Designed for the SATA 6 GB/s interface, Venus Pro 3 features 555 MB/s reads and 525 MB/s writes of compressed data. CoreRise advertises the Comay Venus Pro 3 to produce 4KB random read IOPS up to 40,000, and write up to 85,000 IOPS. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the CoreRise Comay Venus Pro 3 SSD against the fastest storage devices available.

The need for additional storage is ever present and ever increasing for businesses and a growing need for home users and home offices. We look beyond the standard NAS device which offers connectivity to your data on a network and asked for something more. Synology responded with the Desk Station DS410j. Plextor is a familiar name to many, and they've built their reputation on exactly one thing: optical storage. It should be no surprise then, that they've extended their line to embrace the latest in high-density optical storage. We all know Seagate's consumer and enterprise products, but Seagate also has a growing list of end user storage products. Fast-forward to 2011 and the SSD market has exploded with new and old companies fighting for supremacy. Solid state drives are now sold on retail shelves and at price points that are pushing them into commodity status. At this time many enthusiast computer people have already owned at least two solid state drives and feel that the technology is the only way to boot their PC. It's true there have been hurdles, a few eggs tossed on faces and more than a handful of ticked off people, but hearing about such issues is becoming less common.

Over the last few years I have had the much appreciated pleasure of testing many NAS appliances from Thecus, Qnap and recently Asustor. All of these aforementioned companies have been around the block a time or two and have made a name for themselves. One company that doesn’t readily come to mind is Infortrend, but their aim is to change that.

Backing up and making sure your data is extra safe, is something people have been doing since the first digital storage device failed and someone realised they'd just lost a few bits of information. However, now with people having thousands of photographs, extensive movie and music collections, backup storage has never been more pertinent.

Thecus’ N7700Pro belong in a class of its own. The N7700Pro is a robust platform. With today’s 2TB drives, in RAID 5 the N7700Pro can host a 12TB array and that’s simply something that carries some weight. The system is powered by a Core 2 Duo CPU and is outfitted with 4GB of RAM making it the most powerful NAS devices we’ve reviewed to date.
