A short time ago we reviewed the Silicon Power Velox V20 120GB SSD which just so happened to be one of the few SATA 2 drives that we had seen in 2011; the world has gone SATA 3. To say the least, it was rather unique as it was the first to contain Hynix NAND flash memory that we had reviewed. Silicon Power has since sent us their next level in performance, the Velox V30 SATA 3 ‘SandForce driven’ 240GB SSD, requesting our evaluation and review. How could we resist?

If you have opened up your WordPress site up to user registrations, there are inevitably some things that you just don't want them to see. At KitGuru we spend a lot of time testing the latest and greatest components on the market for PC enthusiasts across the globe. But today we have set aside some time for Mac users, namely those who want to make the most out of their machine. Anyone who has looked into buying a new Macbook recently will know that Apple demand hundreds of pounds to install a solid state drive into your system, making it a less than desirable option. But if you perform the upgrade yourself, you can save a significant amount of money.

If your portable storage needs insist that you have plenty of disk space, without taking up too much physical space, the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1.5TB external hard drive is worth considering. 1.5TB is definitely an ample amount of storage, and having it available in such a compact size while requiring just the one cable for both data and power is definitely convenient.

It seems that OWC has been at it once again and we recently received a new OWC Accelsior E2 PCIe SSD, fitted with two 240GB blade SSDs for excellent performance and capacity once again. The Accelsior is the latest design of the OWC engineering team and contains two 6Gbps eSATA ports that provide for external storage up to 32TB as well as performance similar to the original Accelsior. Once again, OWC has caught us off guard and this seems to be a first and great idea for increasing performance to another level and increasing capacity significantly. The beauty of the Accelsior has always been its expansion capabilities but this knocks the original capacity maximum out of the ball park.

Speaking of the hardware alone, the Synology DiskStation 411+ NAS is fantastic. I cannot think of any issues one might have with the unit. It would take a serious number of users to fully tax the hardware; more people than you would typically find at the DS411+'s target market of small to medium-sized businesses.

Better cameras and recording equipment obviously require more space to store your files. The Samsung MB-MS8GA 8GB microSDHC card is the perfect option. It’s Full HD compliant, capable of storing 2000 photos, 2 hours of HD video and 2000 songs. Samsung also claim that the MB-MS8GA is near-indestructible so we’ll be putting this to the test later on as well.
