Nun, nur wenige Tage nach diesem Review, folgt der ausführliche Praxistest der Vertex 3.20 mit 240 GB. Beide Modelle dieser Neuauflage der Vertex 3 setzen auf den erfolgreichen SandForce SF-2281 Controller, kombiniert mit neuster Flash-Technologie. Die namentlich als OCZ Vertex 3.20 geführte Serie bedient sich 20 nm NAND-Flashspeicher (zuvor 25 nm), was durch den Namenszusatz ".20" entsprechend kenntlich gemacht wird. The WD Black and Seagate Desktop HDD.15 are both 4TB drives with 64MB of cache, but they differ internally on how they reach this large capacity. WD uses five 800GB platters and Seagate uses four 1TB platters to reach 4TB. Seagate informed us that the new 1TB per platter design significantly increases the hard drive’s performance over the competition. It also consumes 35 percent less power than comparable drives on the market with 4TB capacities, so this will be an interesting matchup...
The Synology DiskStation DS713+ is the latest version of their small and medium size business oriented NAS. This model replaces the impressive Synology DiskStation DS712+, which we reviewed last year. This NAS has advertised speeds of 202.3 MB/sec reading and 135.84 MB/sec writing speed under RAID1 configuration in a Windows environments via Link Aggregation. In addition, the DS713+ now has USB 3.0 ports that were found on their consumer DS213 models.
Sometimes it can be hard to find an easy, affordable and reliable solution for external PC backups in one product. I have used several HDD enclosures and NAS products from several different makers and never really fell in love with any of them. Most of them have extremely complicated menus that you have to sift through to try and figure out how to change the RAID setup of the device. Then you have to wait several hours just for it to format a few hundred Gigs of space. In the past, when deciding on a RAID capable enclosure you really need to prioritize what is important to you and ask yourself a few questions. How much does it cost? How reliable it is? How easy is it to use? Keep all of those questions in mind as you read this review and I think you will be pleasantly surprised with this enclosure.
Now OCZ are bringing to market a new Vertex drive using more than a little tech from their Vector series of enthusiast SSDs. Today the Vertex 450 launches and we have the 256GB model in our test system to see where it fits into the current market.

Over the last few years I have had the much appreciated pleasure of testing many NAS appliances from Thecus, Qnap and recently Asustor. All of these aforementioned companies have been around the block a time or two and have made a name for themselves. One company that doesn’t readily come to mind is Infortrend, but their aim is to change that.
Up on our Test Bench early this morning are three of the most colorful SSDs we have ever seen, these being the Angelbird SSD2Go External USB 3.0 SSDs. Don’t let their good looks alone fool you; these drives are among the best built we have ever seen, scream out LSI SandForce performance at above 460MB/s and are as at home with a PC as they are a Mac. This speed has yet to be seen in any portable SSD before today.
