The Kingston DT Workspace USB 3.0 Flash Drive is a ‘LSI SandForce Driven’ SSD that can start it’s own OS on any computer, compliments of the new Microsoft Windows 8 Enterprise Windows to Go (WTG) environment. As of today, technology has taken us to a place where it simply isn’t necessary to be stuck to a single system, or lug around a laptop any longer. WTG allows your system, on USB, to go where you go and start from just about any computer. Our review today is going to provide a bit of a background of Windows 8 Enterprise Windows To Go and, more importantly, we hope to provide a glimpse of the Kingston Data Traveler Workspace Flash Drive that even Kingston would never have expected, not to mention some great benchmarks.

On the test bench today is a speedy little black box called the OCZ Vertex 3. If you haven't spoiled your computer yet with a Solid State Drive (SSD) yet, now's the time -- SSDs have never been more affordable! The Vertex 3 is a great little 240GB SSD and just the right capacity to install Windows 7 along with a bunch of programs onto, without worrying for drive space. Since this SSD is rated for 6Gb/s SATA III, you'll find it quicker than first generation SATA II drives and light years faster than a standard mechanical hard drive when it comes to booting up or launching programs.

Today OCZ launched a new SSD series under the name Vector. OCZ is aiming at the high-end segment with these, more or less as a follow-up to the existing Vertex 4 series. The interesting part about the new SSD is the controller, because the Indilinx Barefoot 3 has been developed in-house by OCZ. Hardware.Info tested the Vector to find out whether it can hold its own against the other fast SSDs that recently came out.

Thecus rehashed a successful design for the successor to the N5500 and increased performance with a new Intel Atom processor paired with twice the amount of RAM. The new N5550 also adds advanced features, HDMI output and USB 3.0 topping that list.

Having the ability to transfer data from one computer to another with out the need for a network or the internet is something that was solved years ago and external hard drives as an option of expanding you're existing storage is also nothing new. This said and looking more at mobile storage, file sizes are not getting any smaller and this does mean that flash drives soon become less of an option. Whilst flash drives are available in capacities ranging right up to 256GB, lets be honest, they're not cheap in respect and are priced in a similar fashion to an SSD of similar capacity. This is where hard drives, whilst a slower medium, come back into play as they're cost per GB of storage is far more reasonable.
