Up on the review block today I’ve got another part of the GoFlex system from Seagate, this one is the GoFlex Net which enables you to use your GoFlex hard drive on your network. It’s much more than that tough, you can use it in conjunction with the Pogoplug service to stream music and video, and transfer files anywhere in the world and even to your mobile phone. The GoFlex Net also enables you to stream video and music to the FreeAgent Theater, your Xbox360 or your PS3 as well. Read on to learn more..

The OCZ Vertex Limited Edition (LE) was the first generation SandForce SSD to hit the market. At the time of release the LE was plagued with one issue after another. Many drives were shipped to customers with the same on drive serial number which caused issues for RAID arrays. Drives were dropping dead left and right according to forum posts all over the place, too. Even calling the LE an official SandForce was a bit of a stretch since the drives shipped with a OCZ logo rather than the SF-1222 that in the last three months we have become accustomed to seeing on consumer SandForce drives. OCZ had a head start on their competition but some users walked away from the early adapter experience feeling a disappointed.

Today I am going to be looking at a product from a manufacturer that whilst they are a household name is less well known for their involvement in the computer hardware industry. The manufacturer is Toshiba and the product is one of their Store Steel external hard drives, this one in particular is 320GB.

Seagate recently released the FreeAgent GoFlex series of products that put a unique spin on portable hard drives and how we can use them. The GoFlex series is meant to be, as the name suggests, flexible and they are in that the drive itself can be used with many types of interfaces by just swapping the connector on it so you’re not limited to just using USB, you can choose from FireWire, eSATA or even USB 3.0. That’s only part of it though, the GoFlex series also includes other pieces of hardware that can be used with the drives like a media player and a network hard drive dock, both of which I have for review in addition to the GoFlex 500Gb Ultra-Portable Hard Drive that we’ll be looking at today. We’re starting at the beginning basically, and then in the next few days I’ll have the other reviews for you..

As NAND Flash technology has continued to develop and Solid State Drive manufacturers push the envelope of controller speed, we have seen performance figures that approach, and even bump against, the threshold of SATA 3Gb/s bandwidth limitations. Thus the need for a new standard, SATA 6Gb/s, is making its way into design specifications of new hardware. However to date there has been only one solid state srive manufacturer to bring a SATA 6Gb/s product to market, Crucial with their C300 RealSSD series. Join me as I take a closer look at the Crucial 128Gb C300 RealSSD SATA 6Gb/s drive.

Today for review I’ve got another NAS box, this one though is from Thecus and it’s their new N4200 model that features an Intel Dual Core Atom CPU and a nice 1 gig of ram. The N4200 has some other great features as well like the built-in battery backup system, along with dual displays on the front for monitoring system status and even for changing some of the settings without having to login to the admin section. The N4200 is fast, one of the fastest NAS boxes I’ve taken a look at, but it’s got plenty of other features going for it as well.. So read on to learn more…

The drive we are looking at today in our labs is simply entitled the Vertex 2 and it is the true successor to the original VERTEX unit and is based around the affordable Sandforce 1200 controller which OCZ claim will outperform the Limited Edition. The idea is that OCZ will be dropping the price of the original Vertex drive for the mainstream marketplace while targeting performance users with the Vertex 2.
