Almost everyone reading this review is likely to have a small USB 2.0 flash drive at home or work. They can be used for transferring files between machines, flashing the BIOS of a motherboard and for offline mirroring of sensitive data. 2012 saw a wealth of fast USB 3.0 drives released to market from companies such as ADATA, Corsair and Kingston. Today we are looking at the new Kingston DataTraveler HyperX Predator which ships in staggering 512GB and 1TB capacities.

The Micron P320h HHHL (Half-Height Half-Length) is a Gen 2.1 PCIe SSD capable of churning out 785K 4K random read IOPS and a little over 200K 4K random write IOPS at steady state. With Micron’s stash of SLC NAND flash memory, their custom controller, and some great command line and GUI tools, This PCIe SSD is ready to compete. Having had the P320h in our hands for several months now, it’s been a long process getting the P320h to this point, so it’s a pleasure to finally have the opportunity to see if the wait was worth it.

Up for review today I’ve got an external hard drive enclosure from patriot Memory called the Gauntlet. This hard drive enclosure is essentially a solid piece of aluminum that will not only protect the drive inside, but will help to keep it cool as well. The Gauntlet features a USB 3.0 connection for fast read and writes, but it also has a backup button on it to allow you to instantly backup your data to the external drive.

The V in Kingston's SSDNow V Series 128GB solid state drive stands for value, and that is definitely what it offers when compared to other solid state drives. Checking Newegg.com finds that the desktop kit including this drive is $239.99 with free shipping, making it the cheapest of the twenty six 128GB drives they list, and $25 less than the closest competitor's drive.

Patriot Memory has recently released their first NAS device; the Corza 2-Drive NAS enclosure. This device is designed to use two SATA drives in either a RAID 0, RAID 1, or Linear (aka JBOD) configuration. While two SATA drives doesn't sound like much, the Corza can provide up to 4TB of storage space based on currently available drives.

If you're a professional who uses computer systems for work or if you're just an enthusiast then chances are that you will have at least a couple of hard disk drives laying around which once used to inhabit the inside of your PC case but as expected are long replaced with higher capacity models. This is something I’ve seen a lot lately and it seems that most people actually keep these drives stored someplace rather than using them for backup purposes. Still there are always those who are continuously seeking ways to make use of those drives and what better way solution than to mount them on an external USB 3.0 enclosure? Now what's really nice is that although roughly 4-5 years ago there were only single bay external HDD enclosures in the market (excluding server products) nowadays you can find external enclosures with up to 8 available drive bays. Today’s review is about one such product and so on our test bench is the latest dual-bay 3.5" HDD RAID enclosure by Akitio, the NT2U3 (NT2 USB 3.0).

With more Synology products entering our review pool, it's time we take a closer look at the software and advanced features.
