You get USB 3.0 in the front and back, a solid build quality, good trays for the disks and even a slot for a USM hard disk. It's really a distinguishing factor, and if you need a business-oriented NAS that will only be used for back-ups, then the Seagate Business Storage 2-bay is an interesting option. USM disks can be used in the same manner as tapes, and thanks to the SATA port it's fast. It's also very user-friendly, and using this NAS for making back-ups doesn't require a degree in IT.

Patriot are a big player in the world of portable storage whether it be in terms of wireless storage devices or something on the smaller end of the scale, such as USB flash drives. Patriot have distinctively segmented their flash media with an example being the higher performing devices which fall under the SuperSonic branding while others are branded under the Exporter range for cheaper USB 2.0 devices, and of course their is a lifestyle series also.
With the lifestyle products, Patriot have designed them in such a way so that they offer hi-speed connectivity while remaining small and easily transportable at the same time, which is where the Tab range of flash drives fits in nicely with its ultra portable, ultra fast technology through use of USB 3.0 while offering up an ultra durable design through its metal housing.
The 32GB Tab that we are looking at today is the flagship model in the Tab range with up to 140MB/s transfer speeds with easy plug-and-play functionality. Weighing in at 1.5 grams and being very small indeed, some may struggle keeping it within reach with the fear of losing it at the forefront of their mind. Thankfully it does have a slot for easy attachment of a lanyard or keys, but sadly Patriot don’t include any form of accessory like this.

Although hard disk drives (or mechanical drives as some call them) have been around for many decades and names such as Seagate, Western Digital, HGST (Former Hitachi GST) and Toshiba have been tied to them only recently did they all of them decide to turn their focus to the manufacturing of solid state drives. Now this is somewhat strange since when the first consumer oriented SSDs started to appear roughly 5 years ago they were manufactured by companies that had nothing to do with storage media prior and although many of us in the industry hoped for the above companies to make a move and take the market by surprise none of them did. Seagate was the first to release an HDD/SSD hybrid with their Momentus XT 2.5" drives along with a couple of enterprise oriented SSD models but that was just about it and so my guess is that they all stayed out of the game not only to see how SSDs would fair in the market (just to be on the safe side of things) but also for prices to drop at acceptable levels. Well Seagate is back again with their first consumer oriented solid state drive model the 600 SSD and today with us we have the 240GB variant.

When you copy the contents of a hard disk from a PC or laptop to an SSD you have to make sure that the placement of the partitions corresponds to the underlying hardware structure. The same is true for the latest generation of hard disks. Today we'll discuss what this so-called '4k alignment' really means and what you can do in order to prevent a decrease in performance.

Kingston’s follow-up to the Wi-Drive, their portable wireless storage device is the MobileLite Wireless which incorporates wireless media streaming but in a slightly different fashion than its predecessor. The MobileLite Wireless is a BYOS (bring your own storage devices) as it works with both SD cards and USB devices but has no built in storage. This device is able to read and write to attached cards and drives streaming them over Wi-Fi. In addition the MobileLite Wireless functions as a mobile device charger with a built in 1800 mg lithium-ion battery.

It’s only a short time ago that I reviewed the Samsung 840 series of SSDs. The 840 series was the first consumer grade SSD to use TLC (Triple Level Cell) NAND. I am still conducting long term endurance testing on the 840 series SSD, and so far it has proven to be very durable.
If the 840 SSD has a weakness, then it is most certainly its sequential writing performance, which by today’s standards is rather pedestrian. Meet the new Samsung 840 EVO series of SSDs, which is said to address the lack of sequential writing performance of the original 840, and offer even more performance in other departments as well.
The 840 EVO series is available in the following capacities. 120GB, 250GB, 500GB, 750GB, and finally a 1000GB version. They all use Samsung’s new 19nm Toggle 2 TLC NAND, and also feature a new faster SSD controller.
You can read about the new hardware on the next page.Samsung sent me two SSDs, a 250GB model, and the 750GB version. Last week I reviewed the 840 EVO 250GB version.
This week I’m taking a look at the larger 840 EVO 750GB version. So let’s find out how this new SSD performs in our range of tests.

The new Blaze B20 USB 3.0 Flash Drive from Silicon Power comes with a fashionable design and a slide-in mechanism so we won’t need additional protective caps during transport. The drive comes with decent write speeds and very good reads, which recommends it for storing small to medium-sized files.
