Synology release a wide range of NAS systems every year, and today we are looking at the DS 1813+ which has been designed from the ground up to cope with the demanding enterprise environment.
The DS1813+ is built for speed, it incorporates a dual core processor and can scale with multiple DX512 expansion bays to support a total of 72GB of storage.
Storage
The Synology NAS series this year has proven to be very impressive with capable, fast, versatile systems available at every price point. We recently reviewed the high end DS1010+ and DX510 expansion unit and felt it was one of the best configurations available for the business audience.

Today for review I’ve got another NAS Box, this one is the newest one from Synology called the DS210+. This NAS box comes with plenty of features packed into like DLNA for instance, but what really sets this apart from other boxes is the fact that it has built-in 256bit hard encryption. the DS210+ is aimed at small businesses and professionals, but there’s no reason a home users couldn’t fully utilize it as it has all of the features for home users and then the addition of those that businesses would appreciate. In this review you’ll find quite a bit about the DS210+ with pictures and many screenshots, and I’ve compared it to a couple other NAS boxes to see how it performs. So read on…
Storage
The DS210+ can manage up to 2x2TB drives, a phenomenal amount of space for a small and medium business user or someone like me with a massive home network, and I know there are many more like me out there! The performance of the DS210+ speaks for itself, it's fast. We are at the point where Gigabit technology will soon be the limitation on NAS units. The DS210+ puts out 110MB/s read and close to 80MB/s write when the theoretical maximum of Gigabit is only 125MB/s. How will Synology improve upon what they have now is anyone's guess.

Synology is a company that has specialized in NAS devices and has quite an extensive catalog of products which basically covers every need on the market. Today I will be reviewing one of their newer products, the “DiskStation DS210j” which is primarily intended for use in home networks. This product really has o ton of interesting specifications which are available at their website.
Storage
Last month we looked at the Synology DS211, a fantastic performing mainstream unit which easily earned our highest award, and today we are looking at the DS211+ which has just been released today.
Storage
The Synology DiskStation DS211j is operating system agnostic so it can be used on home/work networks running either Windows, Mac or Linux systems. The built in Media Server is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) capable allowing the NAS to stream seamlessly to DNLA ready devices such as the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
Storage
Synology's DiskStation DS211j is a Network Attached Storage (NAS) box that caters equally to both consumers and home offices in need of a centralized file server. It has also been designed to be operating system-agnostic and to provide access using mobile devices like the iPhone and Android handsets.
Storage
It is almost unfair to call Synology's DiskStation DS212 a NAS server. It is capable of so much more than simply providing network attached storage, that a different classification should be established. Sure, it does a great job as a NAS, but owning one simply to serve files on a network would be like buying a really nice Swiss Army knife just for the tooth pick.
Storage
Thanks to a lightning fast 2.0GHz Marvell CPU, 512MB of DDR3 RAM and USB 3.0 connectivity the latest DiskStation DS212+ by Synology is currently one of the fastest and most feature rich mid to high-end dual bay NAS Server units in the market today.
