Today for review I've got an SATA to USB 3.0 adapter from Unitek, it was provided by USBFever.com for our review today. This adapter is like others that utilize USB 2.0 on the market, but this one of course uses the USB 3.0 specification and connection. It's simple to use, it works and works well...

I have been asked that question numerous times in recent weeks and to be honest it's a great question. Rumors are going around that OCZ Technologies has a special firmware revision that uncaps random 4K write performance on their Vertex 2 series. Other companies like Corsair offer Sandforce SF-1200 series controllers in their Force series and we didn't see the performance cap, but we did with Mushkin's Callisto series. To be honest the firmware situation with Sandforce drives is confusing so we went straight to Sandforce to try to get some answers. If you like SSDs then you should find this to be an interesting read!

Having recently reviewed the Synology DS1010+ NAS server, and coming to a more than satisfactory conclusion taking into account performance, practicality and ease of use, today’s review focuses on an expansion unit compatible with both the DS1010+ and DS710+ units.

External hard drives are nice for their portability but when you’re not going anywhere and you need to transfer files there’s nothing better than a dock to do that. Docks are easy to use, there’s no messing around with installing and uninstalling when you want to swap drives, just pop in and pop out. Today for review I’ve got a product from a new company called Siig, it’s a UBS 3.0 SATA docking station. The dock is like other out there, but this one actually features a fan in it to help make sure your drives stay cool, and it’s silent so you won’t even know it’s running. So read on to learn more and see how it performs with both an SSD and an HDD..

While once elusive toys of the rich, NAS systems are becoming more popular, especially as prices drop and people become more aware of the benefits they bring. Having one connected to your home network means that you can access files from multiple machines in any room and they also make for a good option when backing up sensitive data and important files.

OCZ Technology has once again brought cutting-edge high-speed SSDs into the value storage segment with their Agility 2 series. Based on the SandForce SF1200 controller, the OCZ Agility 2 SSD delivers up to 20,000 IOPS with incredible bandwidth speed. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the 120GB OCZ Agility 2 Extended OCZSSD2-2AGTE120G against some of the fastest storage solutions on the market. Just when PCs were starting to seem irrelevant in this fast-paced world of mobile gadgets and smart phones, along comes a new product that changes the entire landscape. SSDs, or more formally Solid State Drives, have finally lifted computers beyond the age of spinning metal magnetic platters. Delivering a boost in speed that no memory upgrade or new processor could ever dream of, solid state drive technology has sent hard disk drives packing.

Today for review iStar has sent me over the BPU-124V2-SS which allows you to put four 2.5” drives into the space of one 5.25” PC bay. The setup can be used for raid, or you can just use it as a hot swap rack to quickly and easily switch drives and transfer data to and from places. The cage itself is very nicely made, each bay locks individually and there's even two 40mm cooling fans built right in to keep things nice and cool.

The Copy Station leaves nothing to chance, and you’re instructed clearly by bright yellow stickers the bay to put which hard drive into so, that you have no excuse for overwriting the wrong drive by mistakenly copying the wrong way. The blocks to right of the stickers provide support for 2.5” drives such as SSDs, while being sprung loaded, so that they press down out of the way when used with full sized 3.5” HDDs.
