Well lucky for all consumers it seems that the prices of both internal and external storage media (HDDs and SSDs) are still taking a plunge something which i guess explains the sudden spike in sales surrounding such products around the globe. Personally i think that's a good move from all the manufacturers out there not only because it means we will get to see 5TB drives sooner rather than later but also because there's no real excuse for anyone to not purchase extra storage now with such low prices (at least the ones that really need the extra space). Still we also have to do our part and so as promised we are focusing on storage media related reviews lately in an effort to showcase/test most of the currently available solutions in the market and to that end today we are taking a look at the G-Drive Mobile USB 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive by G-Technology.

Hitachi is making a big push with their G-Technology brand of portable storage drives. Just a few weeks ago I was at a San Jose Sharks hockey game and during one of the breaks a commercial aired on the display above the rink. The G-DRIVE Mobile was the focus of the commercial. I thought it was kind of cool to see a storage product featured so prominently to mainstream users.

With the rise of SSDs, many notebook computers lack the plethora of storage they once had so G-Technologies offers their G-DRIVE Mini 750GB external drive for expansion. While more Mac oriented in design and function with its FireWire 800 connectors, its just as at home on a Windows machine through FireWire or USB 2.0 connections. How well does it perform? Read on to see.

I think we can all agree to the fact that storage capacity needs increase every day especially as long as people get faster internet connections allowing them to download huge chunks of data from the Internet in surprisingly small periods of time. Luckily all the leading HDD manufacturers have released several 4TB hard disk drive models during the last year including mainstream models targeted towards casual users and gamers, high end models aimed at enthusiasts and of course enterprise class models for professionals. Unfortunately although we have that variety in standalone internal hard disk drives the same doesn’t apply in external hard disk drives since for that purpose most manufacturers choose to use their mainstream models to keep the cost down. G-Technology by HGST (Former Hitachi GST) is amongst the very few companies that not only uses the high end and enterprise class models HGST has to offer but they also use some of the highest quality and performance external HDD enclosures we've seen to date and the latest USB 3.0 compatible version of the G-DRIVE is no exception.

G-Technology offers ample storage performance and capacity to boot with the G RAID mini.

Todays review is going to take a look at a SandForce controlled SSD which is being sold by a UK based company, named Future Storage, who are hoping to push low SSD prices in worldwide sales. The SSD itself is 'SandForce Driven', assembled and shipped from the USA for North American sales. In fact, our sample SSD shipped with 32Gb Toshiba NAND flash modules that we hadn't seen in any SSDs sent our way as of yet.

The trend of portable storage devices shrinking in size has been occurring since their creation. As the hard drive technology has improved dramatically over the last few years the size has decreased impressively, although the capacity increase is more impressive.

The Fractal Design Node 605 can accommodate expensive gaming hardware, it looks sexy and the build quality is exceptional. So, if you are looking for a HTPC the Node 605 is a great choice, just plan out your build ahead of time to avoid compatibility issues.

File systems are an integral part of any operating systems with the capacity for long term storage. There are two distinct parts of a file system, the mechanism for storing files and the directory structure into which they are organised. In mordern operating systems where it is possibe for several user to access the same files simultaneously it has also become necessary for such features as access control and different forms of file protection to be implemented.
