The HighPoint RocketStor 5322 6Gb/s eSATA Storage Dock has 2 6Gb/s ports, fits 2.5" or 3.5" drives, is HotSwap and HotPlug compatibility, PC & MAC supported. This dock is about performance and RAID 0 is also possible with a supported controller. It's an outstanding product!

Today we are testing a new controller from Highpoint that is taking a new approach to high end RAID. The new approach is inexpensive high performance RAID which is not only for corporations and system builders, but also, the casual user as well. The casual user qualifies as anyone who uses a desktop computer, home server, or dedicated NAS. The trick is to pull off the performance, yet also to allow for the same reliability and features that one would expect from a larger, more robust and Expensive enterprise class device.

Enthusiasts on a budget now have another option for SATA 6G RAID and it comes to us from HighPoint Technology. Most of us old timers remember HighPoint from the early ABIT days when their UltraATA 66 controller was all of the rage and set us down the path of onboard RAID coming standard on high end motherboards. Back then a high-end motherboard only set you back around 200 USD and thankfully for us the HighPoint RocketRAID 640 costs even less than that.

The RocketRAID 3510 is amazingly fast. For a mid range priced card it
provides excellent performance and although we only had two SSD drives to
test with, the card showed some excellent capabilities. In terms of features
the RocketRAID 3510 had all the goods we enjoyed with the RocketRAID 2680
and 4320 cards; an excellent web interface, easy to navigate system BIOS,
and was easy to setup.

Storage data while being transmitted is anything but efficient and when it comes to flow, well, that is what HighPoint is trying to open up with their new RocketRAID Switching Architecture series of products. At Computex in Taipei I visited the HighPoint booth to learn about this new line of products, but to be honest it was so far out there that I really didn't believe what I was seeing.

If you wait long enough, sooner or later all technology trickles down to a point where price is no longer an issue. The HighPoint RocketRAID 272X Series of products is a very good example of this. The 272X Series is a low cost product line that delivers a large amount of technology at a reasonable price. Today we are looking at the 2720SGL, a sub 140 Dollar SATA/SAS software RAID controller that now supports RAID 6.

HighPoint's RocketRAID 2680 is a nifty little card and does as it promises. It's affordable, and offers great performance. Of course, it did follow behind the RocketRAID 4320, but it is after all half the price. But, if you have a bit of extra money burning a hole on your pocket, the RocketRAID 4320 is an excellent performance oriented card with the features to match. Coupled with an easy to manage BIOS system and software suite HighPoint has a winning combination.

Our recent RAID review of three Intel 520 SSDs on the Highpoint 2720SGL 6Gbps RocketRAID Controller opened our eyes as we didn’t think performance of 1.5GB/s could be reached with three SSDs. Those results were just a taste of what was yet to come as we simply had to throw eight Crucial M4 256GB SATA 3 SSDs onto the RocketRAID for a true run. How does 3GB/s performance grab you for a start? Unbelievable? That’s what we thought as well but we did it!
