The BlackArmor PS110 500GB drive is Seagate's first entry into the new world of USB 3.0 hard drives. And considering that it may be the typical consumers first USB 3.0 product, they have put together a great bundle to make the transition as easy as possible. You get not only the 500GB drive, but everything else you might need to use this with a laptop computer.

Following on from my recent review of Synology’s DS213j 2-bay system, I’ve been invited to take a look at a system that is more geared for the SOHO (small office home office_ market. This is the DS414 and for those who understand the naming system that Synology have adopted, it is possible to recognise that this is the newer version of the DS413.
Up to this point, there has not been much information to be found in the open about this system, but to give a quick run down in comparison to the DS413 the identical looking DS414 offers up a better CPU, better RAID controller and at a price that is more competitive. There have been rumours circulating that this system will be home to a CPU capable of transcoding media on the fly, but I can confirm this is not the case. Thankfully there is a separate system that is launching very soon which does have this capability and a review for this will appear in due course.

Kingston has recently introduced the HyperX 3K SSD and one of the options with it is the ability to purchase an upgrade kit that includes everything you need to get the drive installed in your system. I mean everything here, software for data transfer, actual tools, a 3.5” to 2.5” adapter and even a 2.5” USB external enclosure. This kit has everything you need to upgrade from a mechanical hard drive to a much faster SSD. So read on to see what’s all in the kit and see of the HyperX 3K SSD does against other drives….

Today we are going to look at a very impressively designed drive caddy which can convert both 2.5 inch mechanical and solid state drives into RAID arrays. It is also built to withstand serious abuse and to fit inside a standard 3.5 inch drive bay. If you have several older drives gathering dust then this might just be the performance boost you need for a new system build.

Seagate's release of the Enterprise Turbo SSHD provides a seamless marriage of flash and platter-based technology. Let's take a close look now.

Seagate just released what is probably the largest external hard drive on the market today, a 3TB desktop drive called the FreeAgent GoFlex Desk. Like other GoFlex products it’s, for lack of a better word, flexible. The GoFlex comes with USB 2.0 connection but your can purchase USB 3.0 or FireWire if you prefer. It works on PC or Mac and comes with several programs from Memeo for Backup, Syncing, Sharing and transferring large files. So read on to learn more..

OCZ was the first to introduce a PCIe SSD solution to the consumer with their original RevoDrive PCIe SSD way back in 2010, this updated by the RevoDrive X2 PCIe SSD the following June and the RevoDrive 3x2 a few months later. There was no question that OCZ had struck gold with the RevoDrive 3x2 PCIe SSD as it was capable of performance of 1.5GB/s read and 1.25GB/s write with up to 200,000K IOPS. At a consumer price, the RevoDrive 3x2 PCIe SSD eliminated the SATA bottleneck, while providing RAID performance without the hassle, introduced OCZ Virtualized Controller Architecture (VCA) 2.0 technology, and provided workstation design and performance at an affordable price.

We have reviewed many NAS systems over the last two years and today we are looking at our first product from Asustor, a subsidiary group of electronics giant ASUS. The 602T is a dual drive system with full cross platform support.

It has been three years since we looked at the OCZ RevoDrive 3 x2 480GB – at the time it was the fastest SSD that the desktop audience could buy. As it connected via the PCI Express interface it wasn’t a victim of the SATA bottleneck, which is still a problem in 2014. Today we look at the latest RevoDrive 350, developed and released by Toshiba owned OCZ to deliver performance levels well in excess of anything possible from the SATA 3 interface.
