Infortrend delivered the first 2-bay NAS we would ever consider and now they bring us the first NAS in this price category with dedupe. What is dedupe and how can this product increase your office productivity? Chris has the answer for us today.

It's been a long time since we looked at a dual bay NAS product. Most have disappointed us, and others never worked as advertised. Infortrend did something a little different with the EonNAS Pro 200 - they used a real processor and a liberal amount of DRAM. The result is pretty good, but quality doesn't come cheap.

Over the last few years I have had the much appreciated pleasure of testing many NAS appliances from Thecus, Qnap and recently Asustor. All of these aforementioned companies have been around the block a time or two and have made a name for themselves. One company that doesn’t readily come to mind is Infortrend, but their aim is to change that.

There are many models of hard drive docks on the market, and while each one should be able to get the job done efficiently, the Ineo Technology I-NA321U+ will definitely do everything you expect and then some. What sets this hard drive dock apart is the integrated drive copy function, which allows you to clone a drive without tying up your computer in the process.

Let's be honest; we have all seen these desktop HDD docking stations before and they are actually getting common on store shelves. Many companies are making them; they all pretty much do the same thing and everyone who has a stack of hard drives sitting around either wants one, or needs one. So, what makes ineo Technology's HDD dock different?

We've looked at several USB 3.0 drive enclosures and realize the enclosures are not the bottleneck limiting transfer speeds to around 200MB/s. As it stands right now, the promised USB 3.0 bandwidth claim of 5Gbps is a sham since the bandwidth from the USB 3.0 controller is limited at the motherboard level. Until we get more PCIe bandwidth dedicated to USB 3.0 we are stuck at around 200MB/s. USB 3.0 will one day offer over 600 MB/s, but until things change at the motherboard level we aren't going to see anything near that mark.

When I saw the External Module, I was a little perplexed, too. Is this some new mystery category of product never seen before, I thought? - In reality, ineo, a California based company, took two popular ideas, put them together and made everything as simple as possible.

Although not as popular and large as the leading companies in the field of external drive enclosures that didn't stop Ineo from producing a very cost-effective and blazing fast RAID0/1 unit, the latest I-NA309D-Pro USB 3.0 Dual Bay RAID Enclosure.
