Storage
When it comes to storage, you can never have enough. This is especially true when you're on vacation and want to take a picture of everything. Join TechwareLabs as we take a look at the Silicon Power 32GB SDHC that will have more storage than you'll know what to do with.
Storage
The new Superior 32GB UHS-1 microSDHC cards from Silicon Power are the new high-speed variants while keeping the same footprint. The current model has rated speeds of 90MB/s reads and 45 MB/s writes and succeeds to distance itself quite a bit from the Class 10 variants. The new cards can be used in old readers too (are backwards compatible) but this way we will not be able to benefit from the enhancements these offer.

After years of waiting for the USB 3.0 spec to be written up and released to consumers we finally have a solid USB interface that is fast enough to meet the growing need for fast access portable storage! Let me introduce one particular USB 3.0 product that features this cutting edge 3.0 interface, the Silicon Power Armor A80 portable hard drive. With an ample 640GB of storage ready to rock 'n' roll Silicon Power provides a storage solution ready to please.

No matter how much advancement in technology we see through the years one thing continues to stay unaltered and that's the continuously growing storage demands/needs for most enthusiasts and professionals. Personally for backup purposes only i use quite a few Terabytes and i know many others who use even more so i really hope that the 5TB HDD models will get released sooner rather than later (Q1 2013 is the projected date after all). Now as you all know lately we've been focusing most of our efforts into testing all the latest storage related devices to hit the market from internal devices such as SSDs and HDDs up to portable devices including USB flash drives and 3.5"/2.5" external HDDs. Still the market is huge, new models get released almost on a daily basis and so today in our hands we have yet another such device the Armor A15 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" portable hard drive from Silicon Power.
Storage
I've always believed that having an excessive amount of free HDD space available around is always a lot better than to need it and not have it so whenever someone comes up to me and tells me that he/she plans on purchasing a new model to replace the old and smaller one i always say to also keep the old one either as a secondary drive or as an external backup drive even if they think there's no point in doing that. That being said when it comes to portable needs most people will never even fully utilize a 500GB portable hard drive but there are quite a few people that will do so and to them a 1TB PHD is really a one way. Capacity however is not the only important thing when we're talking about portable hard drives, the enclosure also pays a significant role since it's responsible for the health of the drive inside so it's always preferable to choose one of the rugged models that offer superior protection. The Armor A30 by Silicon Power is the latest addition in their Armor line of PHDs and today we will be taking a thorough look at it.
Storage
After releasing the rugged Armor A30 model, Silicon Power went ahead and upgraded it with a new Armor A60 model, which has passed the military drop-test standards (MIL-STD 810G), including the specific height free fall test of 122cm. Additionally, the product is water resistant by supporting the IPX4 standard while the internal Toshiba MQ01ABB200 drive is equipped with a G-force sensor for protecting itself when large vibrations are detected or when it falls off the surface.

VDSL (Very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line) finally landed where i live and although it will take quite some time before we can all enjoy the amazing speeds it offers (although we still don't know what the end result will be) such speeds are bound to change things especially in everything related to storage media. We are well aware that VDSL is nothing new in several parts of the world but the majority of people hardly have DSL lines currently so you can imagine how rapidly things will change when everyone on the face of the planet jumps from regular DSL 24Mbit/s speeds to the 50-100Mbit/s offered by VDSL and VDSL2. This is also one of the reasons as to why we've focused in testing portable hard disk drives lately (we need to be ready for the change) and today we have yet another one, the Armor A80 1TB 2.5" USB 3.0 PHD from Silicon Power.

When it comes to building tough, nearly indestructible hardware, no one excels better than the United States military. These are the same people responsible for the development of the Hummer, Abrams Tank, AR15 and many other kick your butt up and down the globe projects that we don't even know about. Military specifications are the benchmark for all which many products are judged and many of those products fall short of military expectations.

The new Armor A15 USB 3.0 Portable HDD from Silicon Power was designed to withstand shocks, vibrations in a better way than the majority of products from the same category. The case comes with a shock absorbent silica gel cover modeled in such a shape to increase the grip so we won’t drop it on the floor easily by mistake. A15 not available only at 1TB, but it can be also found at 750GB and 500GB capacities, at different price points.
