For today’s review Kingston has sent over their latest USB 3.0 flash drive – the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Generation 3 (G3). This model is Kingston’s latest USB 3.0 portable drive, which features data transfer speeds of up 250 MB/s read and 70 Mb/s write. From its name it’s the next version of the DataTraveler Ultimate line and is designed to work with both Windows and OS X out of the box. Of course a USB 3.0 port is needed to take full advantage of its speeds but the flash drive is backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

Thecus over the year have racked up a number of firsts in the network storage sector including the introduction of the worlds first five bay NAS, first NAS with 10GBase-T support, the first NAS with media display output via HDMI and more. Its safe to say that when it comes to thinking up fresh ideas for what the customer wants, they are a step ahead all the time.

With UASP support and SLC NAND, we test the ES flash drive from Mach Xtreme and see how it performs.

It seems that OWC has been at it once again and we recently received a new OWC Accelsior E2 PCIe SSD, fitted with two 240GB blade SSDs for excellent performance and capacity once again. The Accelsior is the latest design of the OWC engineering team and contains two 6Gbps eSATA ports that provide for external storage up to 32TB as well as performance similar to the original Accelsior. Once again, OWC has caught us off guard and this seems to be a first and great idea for increasing performance to another level and increasing capacity significantly. The beauty of the Accelsior has always been its expansion capabilities but this knocks the original capacity maximum out of the ball park.

Over the last few months, the number of wireless storage products and options has been growing and each of them has their own individual selling points; Patriots Gauntlet Node for example allows the user to install a drive of their own choosing based on their capacity needs, whilst ADATA's DashDrive Air provides storage by connecting a USB hard drive or SD card whilst internally it houses a battery pack to charge a device through the USB port. There are also options from Kingston and Seagate as well, but overall there is one option that every other product of this nature on the market lacks and this is LAN.

Have you ever had a craving for a hard drive the same size as those Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies? Seagate has just the drive for you, and anyone else who’s in the market for a svelte 7mm laptop drive but needs performance at an affordable price. Seagate’s Solid-State Hybrid Thin drive may be small, but it may just be the drive you're looking for.

The new DS213+ 2-bay NAS from Synology is sporting a dual core processor at 1.067GHz with Floating Point, 512MB of DDR3 and a very low power consumption in both IDLE and Full Load. The chassis has a solid design like the more expensive 4-bay designs and operates with the latest DSM 4.2 version.

Now with a completely different option we have one of Icy Docks hard drive docks on our test bench, complete with support for 2.5in and 3.5in devices as well as USB 3.0 and eSATA.

ASUS had to rely on a tried-and-true recipe by combining two normal Serial ATA SSDs with two normal SATA RAID controllers on a single card. ASUS did implement this solution in the best possible manner with the legacy and UEFI modes.
