The Intel Developer Forum is next month and on the agenda is a workshop on SSD Overclocking with a new prototype Intel SSD! We were expecting to learn all about that next month, but it appears that Intel wanted to get some community feedback before IDF and they are showing off SSD Overclocking right now at PAX Prime. Read on to find out more!

Ob nun OCZ, Kingston, Crucial oder ADATA. Alle namenhaften Speicherhersteller führen sehr gute SSDs in ihremProduktportfolio.

We test RAID 0 and RAID 5 arrays of the high-performance Intel DC S3700 series enterprise SSDs in 4-drive and 8-drive configurations.

A few months back, we randomly heard three words during a passing conversation; Intel, Taylorsville, and latency. That was it; no context, no explanation and no hints. Given that we happened to be at the Flash Memory Summit, it was a safe bet that something solid state was afoot, but at the time these were just random words to file away for later. During a phone call with Intel a few weeks later, it all made sense.

The latest high-end consumer SSDs may be faster in most benchmarks, but when we tested the SSDs over a 15-minute period the Intel DC S3700 stands out with head and shoulders. Even after two hours the performance had not gone down. And since the steady state performance of Intel's new SSD is higher than that of the other SATA600 SSDs we've tested, it is perfectly suited for servers that will have constant loads for long periods of time, such as databases.
Storage
Intel releases the DC S3700 SSD for datacenter applications, featuring a new proprietary controller, optimized firmware and HET-MLC providing ten drive writes per day of endurance and class-leading performance consistency.

Let's make it clear right from the start and not mix words when we say that the Intel DC S3500 is an enterprise/data center SSD through and through. Availability and pricing of the DC S3500 found early on the morning of release, however, is definitely going to tempt more than just the data center crowd. After all, the Intel DC S3500 has speeds above 500MB/s, 75K IOPS, AES 256-bit encryption, power loss data protection, advanced error correction, availability in 5mm and 7mm form factors, multiple capacities, up to 450TBW and a five year warranty. Compound this with great pricing and a controller that many have been just itching to see in a consumer SSD for some time and Intel just may have unexpectedly stumbled on a new crowd of buyers.

Intel launches the DC S3500 Enterprise SSD for read-centric applications and light mixed workloads with enterprise-class features at rock bottom pricing. The DC S3500 targets the rapidly growing mainstream SSD market, follow us as we review it

We were lucky enough to have two Intel 910 800GB PCI Express SSDs in our lab. We could not resist the temptation to throw them together to explore the performance possible from a dual Intel 910 solution.
