Who knew Plextor made SSDs? Well they do and they’re sitting pretty with a new SATA III drive. It’s part of the M2 range and is known fully as the Plextor PX-128M2S. There’s plenty of shelf life improving features that are all well and good, but you’re here for the performance numbers. So without furtherado, I present to you my findings.

It is one of the thinner, sleeker drives on the market and is probably one of the most stylish. These drives are available in ten different colors and can be personalized with MusicSkins specifically designed for the Seagate FreeAgent Go.

The Synology NAS series this year has proven to be very impressive with capable, fast, versatile systems available at every price point. We recently reviewed the high end DS1010+ and DX510 expansion unit and felt it was one of the best configurations available for the business audience.

Most of you have probably seen the commercials from Microsoft touting the cloud experience behind Windows 7 and Windows Live. The thing is... many of us that have Windows 7 don't really know how to do some of the things they show in those commercials. In this multi-part series, we will attempt to demystify the "cloud" and show you how to make it happen.

On the enterprise side, things were even more veiled. Unless you were a Tier-1 OEM, you had a difficult time procuring Samsung enterprise drives. Many distributors simply did not carry them as part of their line card, so small and mid-sized companies were out of luck. With the introduction of the SM843, Samsung has taken what has worked so well for the 840 Pro, namely performance, price and marketing, and carved themselves out a great niche in the enterprise market.

The majority of PC users out there have regular mechanical hard drives in their computers, it’s going to be a long time before SSDs replace them. Hard drive companies like Seagate know this and they’re not going to stop improving the technology, with the introduction of the new SATA 3 interface we’re starting to see hard drives to go with it. The first company out the door with one was Seagate, and it’s a big one coming in at 2 Terabytes in size called the Barracuda XT, and that’s what I’ve got for review today.

Solid state drives may have been around in the consumer market for roughly 8 years now but they are still considered to be amongst the hottest PC/MAC hardware components aimed towards people who are after something more in terms of reliability and performance compared to regular mechanical drives. Certainly although once such drives were very popular mostly amongst gamers and professionals due to their price decrease over the past 2-3 years they've become a lot more mainstream thus you can find them even in low-cost desktop systems and notebooks. Still not SSDs have the same target audience not only because of their performance, capacity and price but also because of their durability and today we'll be taking a look at the latest model launched by OCZ the ARC 100 which always according to them it excels on all four.

As expected, pairing a couple of drives like the Neutron GTX's which already put up superb performance numbers singularly, really kicks up performance to a whole new level. In fact, in most of our tests, the throughputs nearly doubled from what we saw on a single drive. With the LAMD controller, we barely saw any difference between compressible and incompressible data which translates to a more even real world experience...
