The Western Digital My Book Series is one of the longest running product brand names in the storage market. Western Digital has done very well with My Book and all of the products in the group have turned out very well. In 2011 Western Digital is raising the bar for My Book by adding the new My Book 3.0, a new USB 3.0 connected enclosure to the series.

Some of you might want some extra storage and others may want to be safe and perform regular backups. The ideal solution for both is an external hard drive of some form which allows you to put in the hard drive with the size and speed you require and upgrade easily over time. This is especially true with the now quite common USB 3.0 interface which offers great speeds making backup's much quicker and more appealing to those of us who have lots of files.

For a long time we've been looking for a high quality NAS server to compete on the market with the same speed and abilities as the QNAP and Thecus products. What we've needed to find is a "QNAP-lite" product that allows users to store their data redundantly, allow for high speed file transfers and still use the DLNA protocol to connect to DLNA enabled devices. Many contenders have come and gone, yet all of them have either cost more than they should or performed so poorly that file transfers have taken too long. QNAP and Thecus make great products; sometimes they are too good. It would be very hard for either company to make a high capacity NAS with all of their bells and whistles and still deliver it at under 600 USD.

Our feature picture depicts the new Samsung PM800 mSATA 128GB SSD as it sits on top of our new Samsung 9 Series laptop. A few months ago, we reviewed the Samsung 470 Series 256GB SSD and were the first to identify it as a top tier SSD. The results and review did so well that Samsung as well as other review sites hadn't a clue. A flurry of 470 reviews followed and we think history is about to repeat itself.

Today’s review of the Crucial M4 256GB SSD comes as a ‘readers choice’ SSD review as it has made its way to our office only through the amount of e-mails received asking for its performance beside that of its big brothers and other SSDs of similar size. The common theme with new ‘Gen 2′ SSDs is that higher capacity equates to better performance. Our M4 128GB SSD tests seem to contradict this and we believe that Crucial just may have found the ‘sweet spot’ for this SSD.

As we all know USB 3.0 is an upcoming technology that will be the next most wanted storage or I/O interface since it has much faster speed than USB 2.0 technology; about 10x faster. Many storage vendors have started to ship their products with USB 3.0 interface and today we would like to bring you the first USB 3.0 flash drive from Centon with affordable price and compact size; RUSH 3.0.
