We revisit the SATA Express interface to obtain a more up-to-date look at what the next generation of SATA connections is capable of. Our tools for the job; a retail Asus motherboard set to release soon, and a concept version of Asus’ Hyper Express enclosure, internally powered by solid state storage.

The Satechi 10-Port USB 3.0 Hub measures in at 8.69" x 1.75" x 1.06" and is very light at just 4.125 ounces. The hub has three sets of three SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, and each set of ports can be independently controlled by a power switch on the left side hub. When the ports are switched on, they're lit up blue. You might notice that there are just nine USB 3.0 ports, but that is because there is a "charge only" USB 3.0 port at the end of the unit...

As the population of Mac computers grows, so does the third party add-on market. Increasingly, mobile computers are getting smaller like the MacBook Air and with the smaller size comes less port availability. Satechi aims to help expand the number of USB ports available to you in a small, easy to carry form that also matches many Apple computers. Have a look to see what we thought of it.

Japanese cooling giant Scythe has become a very popular brand amongst cooling enthusiasts. Their Mugen series coolers were a great balance between superior thermal dissipation and price. However these particular tower coolers were pretty humongous in design. Times evolve and installation issues with new enclosures and especially compatibility when installing heatspreader equipped RAMs, needed to be addressed. The noise generated also remains a critical factor when buying an aftermarket CPU cooler. Scythe's latest Ashura CPU cooler is on paper the perfect harmony off a high end tower cooler, with a slanted heatpipe design, cooled down by a powerful and silent 140mm fan.

The 1TB Constellation.2 isn’t going to break any speed records with 115MB/s read and write but it brings to the table a unique set of features. Let’s start with the fact that by maintaining platter disks it makes these drives relatively affordable at just over $200 for a whopping 1TB enterprise quality space using SATA 6Gb/s interface. The 6Gb/s interface doesn’t boost the speed up too much but we do see small advantages over SATA 3Gb/s.
