The Crucial 256GB m4 SSD comes now with an improved firmware and we now get read speeds up to 500MB/s sequential. Compared to the SandForce offerings, the m4 comes with a good price/performance ratio, so we could afford getting higher capacity SSDs. The tested model also comes with a Data Transfer Kit composed of hardware (USB to SATA adapter) and software (EZ GIG IV Cloning Software).

The RocketRAID 3510 is amazingly fast. For a mid range priced card it
provides excellent performance and although we only had two SSD drives to
test with, the card showed some excellent capabilities. In terms of features
the RocketRAID 3510 had all the goods we enjoyed with the RocketRAID 2680
and 4320 cards; an excellent web interface, easy to navigate system BIOS,
and was easy to setup.

Today we perform some drop tests on the Buffalo MiniStation Extreme to see if it can live up to the claims. Ever wondered if your drive can survive being dropped out of a 2 storey window?

Today we are looking at the latest Solid State Drives from Corsair – the Neutron and Neutron GTX, in 240GB capacities. Both of these drives are using the latest Link A Media (LAMD) controller which is 6Gbps capable and is said to deliver stunning performance when tasked with both compressible and incompressible data. Can Corsair claim the top performance spot with these new drives?

Most PC cases sold today don't have any provision for directly mounting a 3.5" device in the front panel. Floppy drives are a thing of the distant past, and most accessory units designed for mounting in this location have adopted the 5.25" format. The Patriot Convoy 425XL takes advantage of this larger environment to provide space for four 2.5" format drives. It's ideally suited for an application where a RAID solution is needed in a small space, particularly the higher RAID levels that require 3-4 drives for a combination of speed and redundancy. Commonly called "laptop" drives, the smaller format is also the most common platform for SSDs. There has been an explosion in the last two years of 2.5" SSSDs on the market; silent and fast, with low power requirements, they would seem to be an ideal companion for this new class of drive enclosure. Benchmark Reviews takes a look at the ins and outs of the Convoy 425XL and ! then puts it through its paces with a full suite of benchmarking tests.

Very recently Benchmark Reviews has tested several Solid State Drive products based on the SandForce SF-1222 controller. The specifications for each product were each very similar, if not identical. Throughout all of our benchmark SSD tests the results were also very close, and nothing seemed to stand out until we concentrated in one particular area. The differences were made evident as we experimented with a new benchmark setting for upcoming SSD reviews. Consider these factors when you shop for and compare SandForce-based SSDs, just exactly as it required back when Indilinx firmware updates were changing the landscape.

OCZ hopes to bring a drive to the table that's not only fast, but also excels in reliability and durability. Does the OCZ Vector deliver as promised?
