A few months back, we randomly heard three words during a passing conversation; Intel, Taylorsville, and latency. That was it; no context, no explanation and no hints. Given that we happened to be at the Flash Memory Summit, it was a safe bet that something solid state was afoot, but at the time these were just random words to file away for later. During a phone call with Intel a few weeks later, it all made sense.

Mushkin breaks the mold with brilliant engineering and doubles the highest capacity ever offered on an mSATA form factor SSD.

In this review PCSTATS will be testing the 256GB Crucial M4 SSD, a 6Gb/s SATA III drive rated by the manufacturer for read speeds of up to 500MB/s and write speeds of 260MB/s (sequential). Crucial's M4 uses a Marvell 88SS9174-BLD2 controller which supports a host interface of 6Gb/s SATA III and includes a range of passive flash management tools.

SSDs are of course the hippest and fastest form of storage, but if you want lots of storage capacity without breaking the bank, you're still relegated to the familiar realm of the hard disk. There's still some choice out there in this category, and price are slowly creeping down. Hardware.Info tested and compared 25 hard disks ranging in capacity from 250 GB to 4 TB.

Designed to replace the existing SSDNow V200 models, Kington's new SSDNow V300 Series V300 offers sequential read and write speeds of around 450MB/s, uses a customized LSI SandForce SF-2281 controller, along with 19nm NAND flash memory components.

VDSL (Very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line) finally landed where i live and although it will take quite some time before we can all enjoy the amazing speeds it offers (although we still don't know what the end result will be) such speeds are bound to change things especially in everything related to storage media. We are well aware that VDSL is nothing new in several parts of the world but the majority of people hardly have DSL lines currently so you can imagine how rapidly things will change when everyone on the face of the planet jumps from regular DSL 24Mbit/s speeds to the 50-100Mbit/s offered by VDSL and VDSL2. This is also one of the reasons as to why we've focused in testing portable hard disk drives lately (we need to be ready for the change) and today we have yet another one, the Armor A80 1TB 2.5" USB 3.0 PHD from Silicon Power.

Today’s SSD analysis takes a look at a new SSD to the market, this being the Kingston SSDNow V300 SATA 3 SSD. The V300 is a unique Kingston SSD introduction as it is their first product using the new Toshiba 19nm NAND flash memory process, but also, this SSD is ‘SandForce Driven by LSI’ and a key example of the success that can be had when two companies work closely together.
