Turning towards the computing industry’s storage segment, Patriot’s latest drive enclosure aims to offer the flexibility of a portable hard drive with the convenience of a wireless streaming function. Can the Patriot Gauntlet Node portable wireless HDD enclosure establish itself as one of the market’s firm contenders?

Just recently we took a look at Patriot's Wildfire SSD that uses a SandForce SF-2281 controller and Toshiba Toggle flash to deliver amazing performance. Today we are looking at the Wildfire of the portable flash drive world, the Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0. This new and improved Magnum offers big capacity sizes just like last year's model, so you can carry entire movie and music collections with you, but the new 8-channel controller paired with USB 3.0 allows you to transfer those files at very high speeds.

Once again, this is an excellent showing from QNAP. Their NAS units have always exceeded my expectations by offering an impressive feature set and quality construction that consistently goes above and beyond the competition. The TS-439 Pro NAS continues that trend and utilizes the power of the Intel Atom processor, making for a robust yet efficient way to centralize not just storage but many other network operations as well.

This SSD Review is going to closely evaluate the renice X3 120GB SATA 3 mSATA SSD. It will be a great comparison with our similar reviews of the Samsung PM800 and Intel 310 just a few months ago. Because of their tiny form factor, mSATA SSDs are starting to appear as the only storage option in ultralight notebooks such as the Samsung Series 9 as well as being seen as boot drives in larger notebooks offered by Lenovo in their T, W an X Series, Asus and Dell.

Corsair's Flash Voyager LS carries a unique sliding design, but does it have the performance for everyday use? Let's find out and see how it goes.

By plugging in the Transcend RDF8 USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader into one of the available USB 3.0 ports on the ASUS UX31A we found performance increased nicely. The sequential read and write speeds jumped up to 81MB/s and 45MB/s, respectively. Speed aside it also supports other memory card formats that we previously couldn't do, so you get more than just a speed boost!

The product we are looking at here, is the QNAP TS-269L NAS. It's a 2-bay NAS box with a 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB RAM. There are good opportunities for connecting external devices via 2x USB3.0, 3x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0 and 1x eSATA. The NAS box also uses their latest firmware, which among other things allows you to watch and record TV directly through a tuner.

With all the talk about TLC, 20nm and other new forms of flash that reduce the number of P/E cycles - it's nice to see one company fight against the flow. PNY's Prevail Elite is a 10K P/E cycle SSD that uses a LSI SF-2200 Series controller.

It’s been a bit since I’ve taken a look at any USB 3.0 related products hasn’t it? I think the last thing was an enclosure, and while enclosures are nice I much prefer docks, they’re just so much more useful and so much more easier to use. Today for review I’ve got a product from our friends over at Cirago, it’s the CDD2000 USB 3.0 hard drive docking station. This dock from Cirago is well made, and looks good, and it works well. The price is lower than many others out there so if you’re made the jump to USB 3.0 then you might want to read more..
