Introducing the TransImp X3 Plus from Mukii. And it’s a lot better than a hollow chunk of aluminum with a fan glued to it. There was a chrome band that went around the front where the LCD panel is and one at the back where the enclosure comes apart to insert the HDD.

Roughly five years ago we first reviewed the Vantec NexStar MX hard drive enclosure. The NexStar MX was a stylish looking, dual drive RAID enclosure which featured USB 2.0 connectivity. Since that time, the NexStar MX has remained on the market as a good priced, good quality dual drive USB 2.0 enclosure. However, over the last five years a lot has changed with external storage. New interfaces like eSATA and USB 3.0 have quickly made the "slow" speed USB 2.0 almost extinct. To meet the demands of this ever evolving market, Vantec has taken the popular NexStar MX and revised it to now feature USB 3.0 and eSATA connectivity. Without any further adieu, let's see what the new and improved NexStar MX is all about!

Corsair's lock on Link_A_Media Device's controller is holding. We've seen the 240GB capacity sizes of the Neutron and Neutron GTX, and now we get our turn with the massive 480GB drive.

When we recently reviewed the Corsair Neutron drive with the new Link_A_Media Devices LM87800 controller, we were duly impressed with the initial offering for this yet untested controller but we didn't get the chance to see it really shine until now. The Neutron GTX is a souped-up version which pushes the SATA 6Gbps interface to the limits. We take a look at performance and, now that both have been on the open market for a bit, also look to see how they are holding up on consumer machines.

The prehistoric VelociRaptor may have only been depicted as a pack hunter, but in the modern era do they work better as a pack, hunting down the quick SSDs?

Not many Solid State Drive manufacturers offer a five-year full-replacement product warranty, but PNY does. Built in the USA, the PNY XLR8 PRO SSD series combines a second-generation LSI/SandForce SF-2281 SATA 6Gb/s controller with fast IMFT-branded NAND flash components to produce up to 85,000 IOPS. PNY has tweaked the XLR8 PRO SSD-series to deliver transfer speeds up to 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write. In this article Benchmark Reviews tests these claims, and compares XLR8 PRO SSD performance to competing storage solid-state solutions to find out which SSD is best.

Since Day One in the SSD arena, there has been a constant struggle where a seemingly three way tug of war is seen between performance, capacity and value. Enter TLC memory and we just may hit both value and capacity at some point, however, manufacturers still believe the feasibility of marketing a 1TB SSD just isn’t there yet. This a mainstream vision, and one held strictly on predicted sales figures alone, so what is available for those that require that 1TB SSD for their needs today?
OWC just may have answered that question with their marketing of the OWC Mercury Electra MAX 3G 960GB SSD and we think that the specific composition of this SSD just might interest you. Take a look at the picture below and observe, not one but, two PCBs within. Is this really the first time anyone has considered this idea for additional capacity in an SSD?
