Today for review I’ve got another NAS Box, this one is the newest one from Synology called the DS210+. This NAS box comes with plenty of features packed into like DLNA for instance, but what really sets this apart from other boxes is the fact that it has built-in 256bit hard encryption. the DS210+ is aimed at small businesses and professionals, but there’s no reason a home users couldn’t fully utilize it as it has all of the features for home users and then the addition of those that businesses would appreciate. In this review you’ll find quite a bit about the DS210+ with pictures and many screenshots, and I’ve compared it to a couple other NAS boxes to see how it performs. So read on…

Synology's product line-up is pretty broad. At the top you have products like the DS713+, a powerful NAS with space for two disks. It's also very expensive. The DS213j is a much more affordable option, and you still get all of the features of the impressive Disk Station Manager firmware and room for two hard drives. It's a great way of getting introduced to a Synology NAS.

Over the past several years I’ve amassed a collection of SD (Secure Digital) cards beyond count, likely the result of various devices that depended on this media for recording files to flash storage. As the technology improved, more and more devices began using the microSD format. Eventually the microSD card surpassed the competition to become the standard with its faster speeds, higher capacity, and compact lightweight profile. In this article Benchmark Reviews will test transfer speeds and performance of the extended capacity 64GB SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSDXC card, model SDSDQX-064G-U46A.

Icydock's tool and rail free backplane module is called the MB973SP-B. It stores three 3.5" SATA hard drives in the space of two 5.25" drive bays. No hard drive rails or tools are needed, just open one of the three bays and slide a SATA hard drive in right side up, then close the door. On top of that, forced cooling is built in to prevent excessive heat build up, something that isn't always available (or plugged in) within the PC chassis.

Around the same time, Corsair shipped hardware review nerds a handful of samples. At the same time the first retail products were being shipped to retail and e-tail businesses. The reviewers found a previously unknown stability issue with their samples and reported the issue. Normally review nerds get products before resellers, but in this round a few cases of products were sold. I don't know how many drives ended up in the hands of end users, but I doubt it was 1,700 in the short amount of time they were available. I do know the end results aren't as potentially deadly as the Porsche issue. Yes, technically it was a recall, but it was handled quickly, openly and honestly. Corsair really showed what kind of company they are while handling this issue. The new, issue free drives are hitting e-tail, retail and hardware review nerds alike this week.

The rush is on for companies such as LSI to deliver a host of storage components that allow customers to reap the generational benefits that PCIe 3.0 brings.

There is a glass ceiling in the world of NAS devices, and like all glass ceilings it's not that obvious until you bang your head against it a few times. The standard-issue network interface in the IT world is a one Gigabit Ethernet connection. Convert bits to bytes and you end up with a less impressive sounding 125 MB/s interface. The ceiling comes into play quickly, because even a single 3TB HDD can push 160 MB/s through its SATA 6GB/s interface, when it's running hard. I was a little frustrated when I did an extensive review of the QNAP TS-879U-RP Turbo NAS server last month, because I didn't have a network environment that could unleash its full performance. Now that I do, let's take a look at what it takes to get this corporate animal up to full speed.

Today we are going to take an indepth look at Cache Cade, a new approach to storage systems that allow the perfect fusion of HDD capacity and SSD speed. W ith many large databases and enterprise users ‘caught in the middle’ with large HDD arrays, yet needing more performance from their existing infrastructure, CacheCade is a great option that allows the best of both worlds.

OCZ forges their own path again with their homebrew Indilinx Everest controller featured in their new line of Octane drives. With up to 1TB of storage and read write specifications of up to 560MB/s and 400MB/s, will OCZ shake up the market and take the title of top SSD? Read on to see how this SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive does on the benchmarks!
