Today’s SSD analysis takes a look at a new SSD to the market, this being the Kingston SSDNow V300 SATA 3 SSD. The V300 is a unique Kingston SSD introduction as it is their first product using the new Toshiba 19nm NAND flash memory process, but also, this SSD is ‘SandForce Driven by LSI’ and a key example of the success that can be had when two companies work closely together.

Since their 2011 acquisition of SSD controller manufacturer Indilinx, OCZ has come to market with a variety of new drives over the last year that are all based on the latest Indilinx controller. It appears that the Xtreme firmware update for the Plextor M5 Pro is little more than a marketing ploy. While Plextor does indeed get in the vicinity of 100.000 4k read Iops, the SSD is not much faster in any of the other benchmarks. In some tests it's even slower with the new firmware than before.
