When it comes to storage media it's no secret that laptop/notebook owners have been getting the short end of the stick for over a decade now something which is about to change since manufacturers have finally begun to focus in the development of 2.5" drives up to 3TB (as the name of the drive clearly states laptop owners may not be their primary target group but that matters very little in the end since anyone can use it). Certainly compared to the 6, 8 and 10TB 3.5" desktop models available 3TB may not seem as a breakthrough but since until recently the highest capacity model consumers had access to was just 1.5TB we're basically talking about a 100% increase. Unfortunately 3TB 2.5" drives may be a reality but they are months away from a massive release and so today we're going to be taking a look at the next best thing which is no other than the 2TB Enterprise Capacity 2.5 HDD V3 model by Seagate.

I know the SSD is faster than the HDD, but what I didn’t really know was how it affected the system performance overall, so being a reviewer I ran tests, lots of tests, to find the answer. I ran storage specific tests, I ran overall system tests and separate tests as well and I found the obvious that the SSD is faster. I also found the not so obvious as well that at the system level the performance seemed lower with the SSD installed. HDD is getting cheaper nowadays compared with old day and most of the people will get one as an external storage for file sharing, back up or etc. One of the weaknesses of external storage is the slow read/write speed and hence we are going to introduce you a great device from Vizo; Ares II which is a dual 2.5" internal SATA HDD enclosure for desktop.
It wasn't that long ago we reviewed the Silicon Power V20, a SATA II SandForce Driven SSD using the SF-1200 controller. The V20 landed on US shores well after others SF-1200 products came to market, but still used 3Xnm flash even though 25nm had become the norm. Silicon Power learned from their V20 release that you have to bring products to market quicker if you want market share. This round Silicon Power is getting their new V30 product here and even taking a stab at making the low cost kings at the same time.
