Today we are going to look at a very impressively designed drive caddy which can convert both 2.5 inch mechanical and solid state drives into RAID arrays. It is also built to withstand serious abuse and to fit inside a standard 3.5 inch drive bay. If you have several older drives gathering dust then this might just be the performance boost you need for a new system build.

OCZ gave everyone a hint of things to come at Computex 2011 with a sneak peak of the third generation of the RevoDrive. We've been impressed with our previous encounters with this SSD line and this time is no different as we give the RevoDrive 3 X2 480GB PCI-E SSD a test drive. Is it fast? Well, how does 1500MB/s reads grab you? Oh yeah, there's TRIM support too!

The Force GT is the latest in Corsair's range of SandForce based SSDs and features a tweaked architecture which should benefit reading and writing of music and video files (uncompressible data). Today we will be putting the 120GB model through a selection of synthetic and real world tests to find out how it compares to an alternative model which is also tuned for OS use rather than maximum IOPS.

This year Thecus introduced the new Triple X designation. XXX doesn't have anything to do with those movies being made in California, but stands for Xtreme Power, Xtreme Value and Xtreme Function. The N5200 namesake has been with us for several years, but when paired with the new XXX features takes on a whole new form. To start things off, the exterior of the N5200XXX was first used on last year's award winning N5500. This new chassis is much smaller than the old N5200, so it has a smaller footprint. The new Atom processor and updated memory system make up the bulk of the Xtreme Power and Xtreme Value, but let's talk about the new Xtreme Functions.

We take a look at five of the latest 240 GB SATA-600 solid state drives to see how their performance compares. We will be testing the Crucial M4 C400, Intel 510 Series, Mushkin Chromos, OCZ Vertex 3 MAX IOPS, and OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G. Lets see which one comes out on top!

Today we are looking at the new 240GB HyperX SSD drive from Kingston which is based around the leading mainstream Sandforce SF-2281 Controller.

So you want to buy a NAS but don't want to drop a fortune on something like a Synology? We take a look at the Patriot Javelin S4, a small device with a lot of features.

Solid State Drive storage began as a technology best suited for durable computer devices, then slowly evolved into the notebook and desktop space with affordable high-speed SATA-based SSD solutions. Once SSDs became mainstream for power users, the demand for high-performance workstations and servers soon followed. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the OCZ RevoDrive3 X2 PCI-E workstation-class solid state drive against several enthusiast options. Available in 240-960GB capacities, the model RVD3X2-FHPX4 PCI-Express workstation-class SSD uses OCZ's SuperScale storage controller to produce up to 230,000 IOPS with transfers up to 1500 MB/s.
