Early on in their debut, Solid State Drives were planned as included equipment on new computers coming from tier one manufacturers such as Dell, HP, and Apple. In one way or another they made good on their word, but the inflated price for these premium options made SSDs a distant reality. This situation created the perfect condition for a enthusiastic upgrade market. Not surprisingly, manufacturers went after the individual consumer after losing traction with mass system builders, and upgrade kits became the obvious solution for many enthusiasts. Kingston is well known for manufacturing their own memory products, but when it came to the new SSD technology they turned to proven sources such as Samsung. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the Kingston SSDNow V+ Series 64GB SATA-II MLC SSD SNV225-S2/64GB.

Ah, good old USB 3.0 is popping up more and more, I think it’s finally coming into its own?! Ok, it hasn’t been that widely accepted yet, but it’s slowly getting there. Today for review I’ve got a new product from Thermaltake for USB 3.0, it’s the BlacX 5g which is a hard drive dock. This dock can use both 3.5” or 2.5” hard drives and SSDs. Included with the dock are two rubber hard drive protectors as well to help protect your drives in transport or when not in use.

The 830 Series SSDs use Samsungs latest performance architecture, bringing the products into SATA 3 territory and taking on Sandforce and Marvell for the enthusiast user market. Can they succeed? Let's find out.

I think we can all agree to the fact that storage capacity needs increase every day especially as long as people get faster internet connections allowing them to download huge chunks of data from the Internet in surprisingly small periods of time. Luckily all the leading HDD manufacturers have released several 4TB hard disk drive models during the last year including mainstream models targeted towards casual users and gamers, high end models aimed at enthusiasts and of course enterprise class models for professionals. Unfortunately although we have that variety in standalone internal hard disk drives the same doesn’t apply in external hard disk drives since for that purpose most manufacturers choose to use their mainstream models to keep the cost down. G-Technology by HGST (Former Hitachi GST) is amongst the very few companies that not only uses the high end and enterprise class models HGST has to offer but they also use some of the highest quality and performance external HDD enclosures we've seen to date and the latest USB 3.0 compatible version of the G-DRIVE is no exception.

The Performance Upgrade Kit is a great way to purchase the Kingston SSDNow V+ Series 128GB SSD. Not only do you get the drive, but you get an external enclosure, mounting rails, and additional cables to allow you to connect your new SSD to just about any system. You might not need all of these extras, but for the difference in price you might as well get the bundle.

For those who choose a laptop as their primary computer, storage space is an eternal problem. Between games, music, movies and pictures, the gigabytes can disappear before you know it. While this is true of any PC, notebooks have it doubly rough: they usually only have space for one drive, and that one has to fit the 2.5 inch form factor. Today, we'll be looking at one of Seagate's answers to this challenge, the Momentus 640GB.

The latest high-end consumer SSDs may be faster in most benchmarks, but when we tested the SSDs over a 15-minute period the Intel DC S3700 stands out with head and shoulders. Even after two hours the performance had not gone down. And since the steady state performance of Intel's new SSD is higher than that of the other SATA600 SSDs we've tested, it is perfectly suited for servers that will have constant loads for long periods of time, such as databases.

Try as I might, there's really nothing negative to say about Super Talent's USB 3.0 Express Drive . It's the same convenient, portable USB flash storage that we've all become accustomed to, but with the added benefit of performing up to ten times faster thanks to SuperSpeed compatibility.
