If you're looking for a NAS with room for plenty of disks that's also fast and user-friendly, then the new Synology DS-1512+ and DS-1812+ are two models that should be on your wish list. They come equipped with the very comprehensive DSM 4.0 firmware, with space for either five or eight hard disks. You do have to reach pretty deep into your wallet for these NAS devices.

Corsair delivers two new high performance SSDs based on the silicon from Link_A_Media. Chris takes a look and compares LAMD with IMFT and Toshiba Toggle flash.

The Crucial v4s are pretty much the cheapest SSDs you can currently find, so it's not fair to expect the best performance. That said, the v4s are a lot slower than all other current SSDs, even the already slow OCZ Petrols. You get what you pay for, and in this case it's not a whole lot. It's almost an inevitable result of the price war that's been going on in the world of SSDs. There are better options out there for affordable SSDs.

Seasonic really need no introduction, they have been the OEM behind some of the world’s finest power supplies for many years. Today we are looking at the X-Series 1250W unit, a fully modular design which has achieved 80 Plus Gold Certification.

Icy Dock has a wide variety of storage related products and among them are drive adapters. The sad truth is we need these devices as the PC case manufacturers have not yet made mounting of 2.5″ drives a standard. Even more saddening than that; many SSD manufactures conveniently forget to give you an adapter, which means adapters are a necessity. Add to this the growing segment of users going for lower power usage and less heat by using 5200-5400RPM 2.5″ drives in their desktops and one can see the need for adapters. Today we examine two of the many drive adapters offered by Icy Dock; with one thing in mind – utility.

In terms of performance the Adata XPG SX910 256GB is mostly a dime-a-dozen SandForce-based SSD. We applaud Adata's decision to disable RAISE and thereby making the full 256 GB available instead of the usual 240 GB. You also get a complete package with the SX910, including a long warranty, 3.5-inch installation bracket and Acronis data migration software.

Earlier this month we looked at StarTech.com’s Dual SATA Enclosure and found it to be a very high quality product indeed, operating at a premium price range but offering quite a few features for the money as well. Today we’ll be looking at another item that has a slightly different purpose, but could be described in much the same way.

Using flash ICs with rated 3000 program/erase cycles and a reduced price, how does the Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB step up against the competition? We benchmarked one with surprising results.

Crucial lists the capabilities of V4 256GB SATA II SSD as being able to reach read speeds of up to 230MB/s and writes up to 190MB/s. In two out of three synthetic benchmarks, we saw these specifications exceeded with the max reads hitting a hair under 280MB/s and writes just under 240MB/s. Obviously, this is best case performance scenarios but it gives a clear indication of what the drives are capable of although the lesser capacity versions will return lower results. Being a value oriented drive, we feel like the performance is very solid...
