HighPoint's RocketRAID 2680 is a nifty little card and does as it promises. It's affordable, and offers great performance. Of course, it did follow behind the RocketRAID 4320, but it is after all half the price. But, if you have a bit of extra money burning a hole on your pocket, the RocketRAID 4320 is an excellent performance oriented card with the features to match. Coupled with an easy to manage BIOS system and software suite HighPoint has a winning combination.

How much data storage is enough to satisfy your enterprise needs? Thecus would like to assure you their N7700 SATA-drive NAS server has you covered. With seven hot-swappable drive bays assembled into a rugged stackable chassis, the N7700 aims to safely house large collections of data in basic-disk JBOD, RAID-0, 1, 5, 6, and 10 arrays using either the EXT3, XFS or ZFS drive format. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports can be configured for network load balancing, failover, or 802.3ad aggregation modes; and also adds up to 9000K MTU jumbo frame support to each. A single Intel Celeron M 440 processor powers the N7700 on a 533MHz FSB, using 1GB of single-channel DDR2 memory to process requests. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the bandwidth speed of the Thecus N7700 against several of the best Gigabit NAS servers available.

The OCZ Vertex is leaps and bounds better than the original JMicron
Solid State Drive. If you're an owner of the first generation drives and
noticing your performance and system is starting to fall behind, it is time for an upgrade. I was originally pleased with the JMicron MLC SSD but after a few short weeks of use my notebook started to hang for a few seconds at a time. As OCZ clearly indicated on their packaging, my OCZ Vertex gives me faster access times resulting in a far more stable machine. The 64MB cache has made a world of difference and OCZ didn't sacrifice too much bandwidth for the improved access time. We're still well into the 140MB/s Write and 200MB/s Read. With Win7 just around the corner and the OCZ Vertex already claiming to support the TRIM command, OCZ's Vertex has a very bright future ahead of itself.

The RocketRAID 3510 is amazingly fast. For a mid range priced card it
provides excellent performance and although we only had two SSD drives to
test with, the card showed some excellent capabilities. In terms of features
the RocketRAID 3510 had all the goods we enjoyed with the RocketRAID 2680
and 4320 cards; an excellent web interface, easy to navigate system BIOS,
and was easy to setup.

Patriot Memory doesn't have too many solid state drives on the market but when they decide to release one, you can bet they go for performance. You don't see them with wimpy JMicron controllers inside. It's the best bang for your buck or nothing at all. With recently added 10 year warranty, you know the Torqx will be a great pick over the competition.

How do the many solid state drives in the market stack up? We ran some
benchmarks, and here are the results...

With the tower format cooler generally accepted as the best current heatsink design architecture, the variations are often with the base, heatpipes and fan configurations. Previous Cooler Master designs such as the V8 and V10 are pretty extreme with additional heatsinks sprouting from all parts making them into monster coolers.

Almost exactly one year ago, we've reviewed the QNAP TS-409 network attached storage system. The QNAP TS-409 offered brilliant reliability and stability in our long term tests -- of which lasted an uptime of 221 days, 1 hour, and 54 minutes until connections to Disk 2 overloaded, partially due to a user error! The system also provided excellent performance according to our benchmarks, as well as efficient power usage for a lower power bill, since it's going to be running 24/7. But it wasn't by all means perfect. Hardware wise, it suffered from a relatively slow Marvell 88F5281 500MHz CPU, and only 256MB of DDR2 memory.
