Today for review I’ve got another value priced SSD, this one is from OCZ, it’s called the Solid 2 and it is 60gb in capacity. I’ve put it up against a couple other value series SSDs and found that the Solid 2 performs well overall. During my testing I also found that the Solid 2 performs better than the specs indicate it should, which is good thing. So read on to learn more.

Solid State Drive storage began as a technology best suited for durable computer devices, then slowly evolved into the notebook and desktop space with affordable high-speed SATA-based SSD solutions. Once SSDs became mainstream for power users, the demand for high-performance workstations and servers soon followed. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the OCZ RevoDrive3 X2 PCI-E workstation-class solid state drive against several enthusiast options. Available in 240-960GB capacities, the model RVD3X2-FHPX4 PCI-Express workstation-class SSD uses OCZ's SuperScale storage controller to produce up to 230,000 IOPS with transfers up to 1500 MB/s.

Solid Sate Drives are now becoming cheaper and more accessible to the general consumer and with the boost in sales companies are now able to upgrade the technology making SSD devices faster than ever. The SATA based SSD has been around for quite a few years now and as the technology advances and moves on we are now seeing more PCI-Express SSD cards being developed. One such card that is taking the making by storm is the OCZ RevoDrive3 PCI-E SSD, which is what we have to be reviewed for you today...

The OCZ RevoDrive X2 is one of the fasted SSD's on the market, and you can see why in its vastly dominating performance results, even against some of the newest SSD's from the top brands hosting the new SSD controllers and firmware. let's take a look at these gob smacking super fast results...

We will be putting the RevoDrive X2 up against the original and one of the top performing SSDs on the market, Crucial's SATA 6GB/s based C300 256GB to find out how they compare in a selection of synthetic and real world tests. By the end of the review you will know exactly how OCZ's latest product will affect your daily PC use and productivity.

The RevoDrive X2 is essentially an original RevoDrive with a daughter card piggybacked on top. This daughter card adds two additional SandForce controllers and room for more memory chips, bringing the total controller count to four. A RAID0 configuration manages the four controllers and memory chips, resulting in what OCZ proclaims is a blazing fast PCIe SSD solution. We were pretty impressed with the original RevoDrive and can only wonder if the follow-up product is equally as impressive.

The second generation of the OCZ RevoDrive, dubbed the RevoDrive X2, arrived for testing and we were giddy with geek fueled excitement to see just how well it performed. Curious? I'll spoil the suspense now and sum it up in one word - WOW. See for the results for yourself in our in-depth review that includes real world benchmark tests!

We've all heard of OCZ, and know of their stance in the market place but you may be unaware of some of the areas that the storage giant delve into. Obviously they gave up on the memory market so they could focus on their storage devices. Conventionally this includes the style of SSD that we are all used to including the likes of the Vertex II drive that we looked at a little while ago.

Kitguru has reviewed a wide cross section of SSD’s since we opened earlier this year, but today we are looking at something a little different. OCZ have been at the forefront of SSD development, continually pushing the technology into new and exciting performance sectors. Their latest ‘X2′ is the second generation RevoDrive set to redefine the performance to value for money ratio.

'My SSD Is Faster than Your HDD' just doesn't seem to fit the part when we are speaking of the OCZ RevoDrive x2 PCIe SSD. Anytime you consider a product that is controlled by four (4) SandForce SF-1200 series controllers, prepare to be amazed. The RevoDrive x2 should knock your socks off with advertised specs of 740MB/s read and 690MB/s write and 4k random write of 100, 000 IOPS.
